On January 22nd, the Thach Han Regional Health Center in Quang Tri province announced that it had recorded a case of a patient with multiple tapeworm cysts on their leg.

Numerous cysts, the size of grains of rice, were scattered throughout the tissues of the patient's femur and lower leg.
Previously, the patient sought medical attention due to symptoms such as fatigue, significant pain in the legs and back, and limited mobility. The patient was prescribed a routine X-ray.
According to Dr. Do Hong Thanh, Deputy Director of the Thach Han Regional Medical Center, X-ray results revealed numerous cysts of parasitic worms, the size of grains of rice, scattered in the tissues of the patient's thigh and lower leg.
Upon taking the patient's epidemiological history, it was revealed that the patient habitually ate raw vegetables. The patient was referred to a higher-level facility for treatment with a diagnosis of cysticercosis.
Doctor Thanh advises people to eat cooked food and drink boiled water, avoid eating raw vegetables and undercooked meat (especially blood pudding); maintain clean and well-ventilated living spaces; deworm regularly every six months; and have regular health checkups to detect and treat dangerous diseases promptly.
