On the evening of September 18, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tai (Le Dai Hanh Street, Cam Le District, Da Nang ) posted on social media information about his charity group discovering some gold in a box of clothes while sorting in Xuan Thang Commune (Bao Yen, Lao Cai).

Tan Tai's post said: "I received several boxes of clothes donated to charity in the North. After going to Lao Cai to sort and rearrange the clothes, the group found a yellow bag containing gold inside. The two images below for everyone to easily identify are the carton box with the name Tan Khang Group, and several pairs of children's sandals. Anyone who reads this post, please share it with me...".

Mr. Tan Tai's post has received attention from the online community. Many comments hope that the real owner will soon receive this gold back.

On the morning of September 18, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Tan Tai confirmed that gold was found in a box of charity donations from Da Nang to Lao Cai.

Mr. Tai said: "I am in charge of collecting charity goods from 5 locations, and small groups below will collect from people in Da Nang. Before moving to Lao Cai, some items were classified, while others were classified in Xuan Quang, Lao Cai before being transferred to people. While the support group in Lao Cai was sorting, they found the gold."

Mr. Tai also disagrees with some people posting all the pictures of the gold on social networks. This makes it difficult to verify when someone claims to be the owner.

In response to the news that the owner of the gold had been found, Mr. Tai affirmed: "Up to now, the owner of the gold has not been found and no one has contacted me claiming to be the owner of the gold."

It is known that after the people in the North were severely affected by storms and floods, Mr. Tai's volunteer group directly delivered 1,200 relief packages to severely damaged areas in Lao Cai and Yen Bai provinces... Currently, Mr. Tai has returned to Da Nang after the relief trip.

In an interview with Dan Tri newspaper, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Dinh Tuan (Chief of Police of Xuan Quang Commune, Bao Thang, Lao Cai), confirmed that there was an incident where people sorting relief goods found gold in charity items.

Authorities are also not sure how much the gold is worth. According to Mr. Tuan, after learning about the incident, the police agency has made a public announcement so that the person who found the gold can hand it over for verification and return it to the right owner.

"We have sealed the gold. On the morning of September 18, the person holding the gold will hand it over to the commune police for verification," said Lieutenant Colonel Pham Dinh Tuan.
