350kg bomb discovered while farming in Bac Ninh

While working in the fields, people in Bac Ninh discovered an object suspected to be a bomb and reported it to the authorities. When the engineers checked, they discovered two more bombs nearby.

The Military Command of Bac Ninh province informed that while farming, Mr. Vi Van Tuyen, Thuong 1 village, Son Dong commune, discovered a strange object. suspected bomb left over from the war and reported to local authorities.

Upon receiving the news, the Bac Ninh Provincial Military Command urgently directed engineering forces to go to the scene, put up protective ropes, put up warning signs and be on duty 24/7 to ensure people's safety.

Through verification, This is a demolition bomb, code M117, made in the US, 1.2 m long, 41 cm in diameter, weighing about 350 kg.

Bac Ninh province's engineering force continued to inspect the surrounding area and discovered two more M117 bombs of the same type, lying about 2 meters deep, intact and not dented.

After implementing measures to ensure the safety of local people, the engineering force will handle the bomb according to regulations.

It is expected that on November 16, the bomb will be moved to the location for detonation.

Previously, on the evening of October 30, people while fishing on the Nam Mo River (through Pung village, Tuong Duong commune, Nghe An province) suddenly discovered a strange object suspected to be a bomb. The location of the discovery was about 30m from the river bank, about 200m from Tan Xa bridge.

Immediately after receiving the news, the Military Command of Tuong Duong commune quickly went to the scene, stretched cordons, and ensured the safety of the area. With the support of the Engineering Department - Provincial Military Command, the functional forces proceeded to salvage and determined that the bomb was an MK-82, 30cm in diameter, 1.4m long, weighing about 250kg and still had the detonator intact.

On November 7, the bomb was successfully detonated, ensuring absolute safety for people and property in the surrounding area.
