Promoting the strength of national unity to develop the country

VNA respectfully introduces the article "Promoting the strength of great national unity to develop the country" by General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam - To Lam.

95 years ago, under the leadership of the Party, the Anti-Imperialist Alliance was established on November 18, 1930, becoming the first organization of the Vietnam National United Front.

More than ever, it is necessary to give top priority to consolidating and promoting the strength of great solidarity, considering it a key factor in bringing the country into a new era of development.

Throughout the process of national liberation struggle and nation building, with many different names and forms, the National United Front has always fulfilled its mission of gathering and uniting all classes of Vietnamese people.

Regardless of the stage, the core principle of the Front is still to unite the entire people for the common goal: national independence and prosperity and happiness of the people .

President Ho Chi Minh absorbed the quintessence of the nation and the world on Great Unity, initiated and trained the great unity of the entire nation when we had a people's government.

His thoughts have been inherited and developed by our Party in every historical period. The Party always identifies great national unity as a strategic line, an extremely precious tradition, the source of strength of the nation, of the revolution, and the decisive factor in all victories in the cause of building, protecting and developing the country. “Unity, unity, Great unity - Success, success, Great success” has become the truth, the reason for our life.

In the long and arduous resistance wars, it was the strength of the great national unity that brought about great victories. From the August Revolution in 1945 to the Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954, from the Great Spring Victory in 1975 to the Doi Moi process, each historical turning point bore the mark of the consensus and joint efforts of the entire nation under the leadership of the Party.

Thanks to the spirit of "Great National Unity" , millions of Vietnamese people of different classes, religions and ethnicities have gathered under the Party's flag, fighting and sacrificing for independence, freedom and national unity.

Today, the great lesson of national solidarity still retains its current value. Looking out at the world, we are more deeply imbued with the value of a nation “of one mind above all”, “generals and soldiers are of one mind like father and son/ the river water and wine are sweet”, “gourd, please love the squash/ although different species, but on the same vine” ... living together in harmony and peace in the land of the Dragon and Fairy while many countries are facing social division, ethnic and religious conflicts and prolonged political instability.

Wars, violence and factional conflicts are taking place in many places, and in some places, conflicts have even pushed people into extreme poverty and hunger. The global geopolitical picture this year is forecast to continue to be unstable and unpredictable.

In that context, Vietnam emerged as a bright spot with a stable socio-political environment and people united and unanimous towards the common goal of building and developing the country.

A recent typical example of the spirit of solidarity and democracy in our society is the political activity to contribute ideas to draft documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress.

For the first time, the process of collecting public opinions on Party Congress documents has been widely deployed, applying digital technology so that all people at home and abroad can easily participate.

Through the VNeID application on smartphones and online portals, millions of people have sent their heartfelt opinions to the Party. To date, nearly 3 million opinions have been sent through various forms (of which more than 2 million opinions have been sent through the VNeID platform...).

This is the largest number of contributions in any Party Congress to date, clearly demonstrating the democratic spirit, consensus and sense of political responsibility of our people towards the country's important decisions.

The people's voice - originating from practical life - will be valuable contributions, helping our Party perfect its guidelines, accurately reflecting the will and aspirations of the people in the documents of the upcoming 14th National Congress of the Party.

Another typical example is that from the beginning of 2025 until now, many provinces and cities across the country, especially the Northern and Central Highlands regions, have suffered consecutive natural disasters, with consecutive floods causing particularly serious damage to people and property.

Faced with that situation, under the close direction of the Party and State, forces such as the army, police, medical staff, and militia quickly took action to rescue people, organize emergency evacuations, and support the reconstruction of life after the flood.

At the same time, people across the country also joined hands to strongly promote the tradition of “mutual love”, “helping each other”, and “loving others as oneself” . From agencies, organizations, businesses to spontaneous volunteer groups and youth volunteers, resources were mobilized and donated to share and support people in flood-affected areas to overcome difficulties.

Not only are Vietnamese people united on a national scale, but also Vietnamese people at home and abroad are increasingly closely connected. Our overseas compatriots in many countries always turn to the Fatherland, contributing both their intelligence and financial resources to the homeland in many different ways.

Donations "For Vietnam's seas and islands", programs connecting overseas businessmen to invest in the country, or free Vietnamese language classes organized by the overseas Vietnamese community... all come from the heart that always turns to the origin, from the spirit of great solidarity of the descendants of Lac Hong no matter where they are.

It can be affirmed that never before has our great national unity bloc, including compatriots at home and more than 5 million Vietnamese people abroad, been as firmly consolidated as it is today. This is a great source of internal strength, a fulcrum for the country to overcome all challenges and steadily move forward on the path of innovation and integration.

In the coming time, to continue consolidating the great national unity bloc, we must first strengthen solidarity within the Party and the great national unity bloc under the leadership of the Party. More than ever, we need to give top priority to consolidating and promoting the strength of great unity, considering it a key factor in bringing the country into a new era of development.

This requires each cadre and party member to truly set an example, "match words with actions", put the interests of the nation and people above all else, and resolutely fight to defeat all plots, methods and tricks of hostile forces that aim to divide our solidarity.

At the same time, we must constantly improve the material and spiritual life and protect the legitimate rights of the people. This is both the goal and the driving force to strengthen the great solidarity bloc. The Party identifies the people as the center; taking the happiness and prosperity of the people as the goal to strive for.

Special care must be taken of vulnerable people and disadvantaged areas: ethnic minorities, people in remote areas, border areas, islands, former revolutionary bases, areas frequently affected by natural disasters, etc.

Continue to effectively implement sustainable poverty reduction programs and social security policies, leaving no one behind. When the people are rich, the country is strong, democratic, fair, civilized, and all people enjoy the fruits of equitable development, the great solidarity bloc will be stronger and no force can incite division.

Along with that, it is necessary to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation of the Fatherland Front and mass organizations, focusing on the grassroots and taking the people as the center of service. The Front needs to better perform its core role in gathering and uniting social classes, outstanding individuals... all towards the common goal of a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

The Fatherland Front must become a broad forum for all classes of people, compatriots of all ethnicities, religions, overseas Vietnamese... to meet, exchange, and express opinions and aspirations in a democratic and open manner.

At the same time, it is necessary to focus on promoting the role of dignitaries, intellectuals, experts, prestigious people in society and the overseas Vietnamese community in giving advice on national construction.

On the other hand, great solidarity is not only limited to the national scope but needs to be expanded to the international level. Thereby, Vietnam can gain the support of international friends, creating a favorable environment for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; at the same time, strengthening solidarity between the Vietnamese people and people of other countries, especially with peace-loving and progressive forces in the world. A stable, harmonious, and benevolent Vietnam will certainly make important contributions to peace, cooperation and common development of humanity.

The 95-year history of building and promoting the strength of national solidarity is a glorious journey, leaving behind many profound lessons. Thanks to solidarity, our nation has achieved things that seemed impossible, from winning great wars of national liberation, firmly defending independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity to rising above poverty and backwardness.

Today, faced with intertwined opportunities and challenges, it is even more important to strengthen the great solidarity bloc as if protecting the apple of one’s eye. Every Vietnamese citizen, regardless of region, ethnicity, religion or profession, shares the same determination: to unite for the prosperous future of the country.

That is the source of will, belief and strength to realize the goal of building a strong, prosperous Vietnam with happy people. Our Vietnam, with its heroic nation and united, industrious and creative people, will certainly create new development miracles, have a worthy position, and stand shoulder to shoulder with friends around the world./.
