Accompanying the people
Nam An Phu commune has favorable natural conditions and fertile land. Local people have quickly developed diverse agricultural sectors, especially crop cultivation and pig farming - an area that is becoming an effective direction to help many households become well-off.
In recent times, the local government and relevant agencies have actively implemented many policies to support people, especially poor and near-poor households. Up to now, the whole commune still has 71 poor households and 92 near-poor households. These households are supported with electricity bills, exempted from school fees for their children, issued health insurance cards, given priority in production loans, and are allowed to participate in technical training courses and transfer of science and technology in cultivation and animal husbandry.

Many households are guided on sustainable organic farming processes and techniques and building biosafety barns, applying VietGAP processes to ensure product quality, protect the environment and control diseases. The Agricultural Extension Center and specialized agencies regularly visit the facilities, visit models, guide people on disease prevention and control, and provide disinfectants and deodorizing probiotics, helping farmers feel secure in production.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan - Vice Chairman of Nam An Phu Commune People's Committee said that in the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress, agricultural development is the key direction to help people stabilize and improve their lives. The Commune People's Committee has coordinated with agricultural enterprises and specialized agencies of the city to implement policies to support farmers in implementing the organic onion and garlic growing model and strengthen propaganda, instructing farmers to strictly comply with regulations on biosafety, disease prevention, and proactively adapt to climate change.
In the coming time, Nam An Phu commune will continue to synchronously implement Resolutions and socio -economic development programs and propose policies to support people in expanding production and applying scientific and technological advances to the local strengths. In addition, the commune also coordinates with functional agencies to create favorable conditions for people to access loans, complete administrative procedures, expand the scale of legal livestock farming, build local agricultural product brands, and move towards effective and sustainable commodity agriculture.
People feel secure in production
From those practical support policies, many households in Nam An Phu have boldly invested and applied new techniques to production, bringing about clear economic efficiency.
A typical example is Mr. Pham Van Hung (Ben Thon village) who started raising sows in 2010 with only 30 pigs. With financial support from the local government and functional agencies to build barns, provide breeds, bran, disinfectants, probiotics... and technical guidance from the Agricultural Extension Center, Mr. Hung expanded his farm to 6,000 m2, raising 500 sows.

Currently, the selling price of each piglet is more than 2 million VND, each year Mr. Hung's farm sells about 1,000 pigs, bringing in revenue of more than 2 billion VND. The model not only helps his family stabilize the economy but also creates regular jobs for many local workers with an income of nearly 10 million VND/month.
Mr. Hung said: “Thanks to the attention and support of the authorities, I am confident in developing production. Now, the barns apply biotechnology, are always clean, do not affect the environment, and have stable product output. I hope that the authorities will continue to create favorable conditions in terms of procedures and land to expand the scale of livestock farming in the long term.”
Also in Ben Thon village, Mr. Nguyen Duy Luat (born in 1982) used to be a worker at Hoa Phat Steel Joint Stock Company. But with the determination to do business, he quit his job to build a commercial pig farm and dig a fish pond. Currently, Mr. Luat's farm is raising 100 pigs; each year, it sells 2 litters, after deducting expenses, it earns a profit of more than 300 million VND.
“There are many risks in pig farming such as: epidemics, natural disasters, etc., so I hope the locality will open more technical training classes and support loan interest rates so that people can expand production,” said Mr. Luat.
Models like Mr. Hung and Mr. Luat are clear evidence of the right development direction of Nam An Phu commune - where agriculture is not only a livelihood, but is becoming a sustainable economic resource for the people.
Thanks to the support of the government and the will to rise of the people, Nam An Phu commune is gradually affirming its position as a key agricultural production area, contributing significantly to the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, improving people's lives and promoting local socio-economic development.
In addition to livestock, Nam An Phu commune also has strengths in cultivation. According to statistics, the total area of rice cultivation in the whole commune is 886.3 hectares, the area of summer-autumn vegetable production is 34.66 hectares, mainly focusing on chili, onion and various vegetables. Recently, the People's Committee of the commune has directed the Cooperatives to coordinate with the Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise to ensure irrigation and drainage water for agricultural production, at the same time, providing fertilizers and pesticides to ensure the right progress and quality to serve the people.
