Promoting the spirit of solidarity to care for the poor during Tet (Lunar New Year).

With the motto "Leaving no one behind," every Lunar New Year, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and political and social organizations pay close attention to and carry out "Tet for the Poor" activities. Meaningful gifts, delivered directly to the people, help many have more joy in celebrating the traditional Tet holiday in a warm and happy atmosphere.

Leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission and Ngoc Chien commune presented gifts to impoverished households.

In the final days of the year, we accompanied the working group of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission to Chiềng Hoa commune to assess the situation and visit and present Tet gifts; 80 gift packages from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission, and several other units were handed directly to disadvantaged households in the commune.

Receiving gifts from provincial leaders, Mr. Lu A Sung, from Toc Tat Duoi village, Chieng Hoa commune, expressed his joy: "I am very grateful to the provincial and commune leaders for their concern, encouragement, and gifts to my family during Tet. My family is very happy; these meaningful gifts will help my family have a more fulfilling Tet."

Mr. Giàng A Tông, from Đin Lanh village, Chiềng Hoa commune, was deeply moved: "Due to my advanced age, frail health, and difficult circumstances, receiving both gifts and cash has warmed my heart. Thank you to the Party, the State, and the officials for their concern, allowing my family to celebrate Tet peacefully this spring."

Leaders of Chiềng Hoa commune and the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank (BIDV) presented gifts to impoverished households.

With the goal of "Ensuring no household is left without a Tet celebration," Ngoc Chien commune actively mobilized social resources to care for poor households during Tet. Mr. Doan Vu Toan, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Ngoc Chien commune, said: Along with gifts from the Party and State, the commune mobilized social resources to donate 180 gift packages to poor and near-poor households and 33 families of policy beneficiaries and war veterans. At the same time, in coordination with charitable organizations, they donated gifts, essential goods, blankets, and clothing to students in schools throughout the commune. The total cost exceeded 500 million VND.

According to the 2025 review, the province still has over 28,000 poor households and over 22,700 near-poor households, mainly living in remote areas, ethnic minority regions, and border areas. During the year, natural disasters and floods in the province caused severe damage, increasing the number of households with particularly difficult circumstances. Many families are lacking production resources, livelihoods, and facing housing difficulties. To ensure that people can enjoy a warm and joyful Lunar New Year, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province directed its member organizations and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of communes and wards to actively promote the purpose and humanitarian significance of the "Tet for the Poor in 2026" program. Funding from the provincial "For the Poor" Fund was allocated to provide gifts to poor households, near-poor households, and households with particularly difficult circumstances.

Ms. Hoang Thi Luong Tam, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province, said: The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province has issued a document mobilizing businesses and philanthropists to join hands in supporting, visiting, and giving Tet gifts in many practical forms (money, rice, and essential goods...) to poor and near-poor households, people with special difficulties, and people affected by natural disasters in the past year. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee receives and allocates resources ensuring that they are used for the right purpose, for the right beneficiaries, and in a transparent and open manner.

During the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the entire province had 300 poor households receiving gifts from the Central "For the Poor" Fund; 6,700 households receiving gifts from the Thien Tam Fund - Vingroup Corporation; and 1,500 households receiving gifts from the Provincial "For the Poor" Fund, with a total budget of over 5.4 billion VND. In addition, from social mobilization sources, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province received and distributed over 27,800 gift packages from sponsoring units, with a total budget of over 13 billion VND. The support for poor households was implemented ensuring that it reached the right recipients, was practical, avoided duplication or omissions, and contributed to caring for the lives of poor households during the traditional Tet holiday.

In addition, provincial-level socio-political organizations coordinated with departments, agencies, and localities to organize activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year, creating a joyful, enthusiastic, and united atmosphere. Notable examples include: the "Zero-Cost Spring Market," the "Compassionate Tet Market," and the "Warm Spring for Border Guards" program; and visiting and giving 10,700 Tet gifts to poor and near-poor households, members of associations and unions, workers, and people with meritorious service, with a total budget of billions of dong. Although the gifts were not large, they helped many poor and disadvantaged households have a warmer and more fulfilling Tet celebration.

Leaders of the Provincial Youth Union and sponsoring units presented gifts to Xuan Nha Primary and Secondary School.

This Tet holiday, the Provincial Youth Union presented 1,000 Tet gifts to children and 143 gifts to poor households, near-poor households, and families entitled to preferential policies. Mr. Lo Manh Cuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: The Provincial Youth Union also coordinated with several agencies and units to organize the "Spring Volunteer Program - Tet of Warmth Between Soldiers and Civilians" in Muong Gion commune; provided care and support to young people during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse in Xuan Nha commune, along with other programs, contributing to the province's efforts in carrying out social welfare activities for the community.

With the Lunar New Year approaching, the distribution of Tet gifts to families receiving social welfare benefits and those in difficult circumstances demonstrates the spirit of "mutual support and compassion," reflecting the responsibility of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and other socio-political organizations in joining hands to help those in need have a warmer and more meaningful spring season.
