Join hands to build our homeland
Promoting the heroic tradition of the homeland, the war veterans in the whole province increasingly affirm their positive role in life. In Tan Thanh commune, the War Veterans Association has been effectively implementing many models to support members in economic development and to stabilize their lives. The 10+1, 5+1, and 3+1 models have made a clear mark in poverty reduction work in the locality.
The Tan Thanh Commune Veterans Association currently has 386 members operating in 19 branches. Most members live on farming and have difficult economic lives. Faced with this reality, the Executive Committee of the Commune Veterans Association has identified the key task of taking care of members' lives, especially poor and near-poor households. The 10+1 model (10 well-off and wealthy Veterans help 1 poor member escape poverty sustainably) was chosen for a pilot implementation in Trung Hamlet.
With persistent efforts, the Association has mobilized 50 million VND in 2 phases, supporting student Vo Van Phan (residing in Trung hamlet) to develop the economy and repair his house. Thanks to that, Mr. Phan has escaped poverty sustainably, becoming an exemplary student for many years.

The Provincial Veterans Association visited the agricultural economic model of its members.
The Commune Veterans Association continues to launch the 5+1 model, in which 5 well-off and rich members support 1 near-poor member. The Lo Duong Hamlet Veterans Association contributed 40 million VND to help Vo Ngoc Bang member improve production land. After 2 years, from a place of continuous losses, Mr. Bang has escaped the near-poor household status, stabilized his housing and actively participated in the Association.
At the same time, all branches have implemented the 3+1 model, each member accumulates 1,000 VND/3 days to set up a fund to help each other. The Trung Hamlet Veterans Association currently maintains a fund of more than 15 million VND, supporting members with interest-free loans of 1-1.5 million VND for farming and livestock raising. Over the years, the rate of poor and near-poor households in the Tan Thanh Commune Veterans Association has decreased significantly, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of veterans.
Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Thanh Commune, Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Tan Thanh Commune Cai Thanh Truong said: “The 10+1, 5+1, 3+1 models are not only material support but also a vivid expression of comradeship and teamwork. Through that, the Association understands more clearly its responsibility in preserving the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, not leaving anyone behind. We continue to replicate the model, strive to reduce the number of poor and near-poor households in the Association each year, and at the same time build the Association to be increasingly clean and strong”.
In recent years, the movement to build new rural areas in Long Chu commune has marked the outstanding contribution of the war veterans. With the spirit of "The older the age, the higher the ambition", the veterans not only promote the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers but also become the core and exemplary force in all local movements. Identifying the construction of new rural areas as a key task, the Association has proactively integrated criteria on poverty reduction, income, environment, traffic infrastructure and cultural life into the annual action plan.
Right from the grassroots, the movement "War veterans set a good example in building new rural areas" has been widely deployed by the branches. Many members have voluntarily donated land, contributed working days and materials to build rural roads, bridges and upgrade inter-hamlet and inter-commune roads. Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Long Chu Commune, Chairman of the War Veterans Association of Long Chu Commune, Do Van Se, said: "We war veterans have been through war, and we understand that the changes in our homeland today do not come naturally. Therefore, each member must be exemplary and take the lead in everything, from small to big things."
In addition to participating in infrastructure construction, the Long Chu Commune Veterans Association also attaches importance to the task of helping each other develop the economy. Every year, the Association coordinates with specialized sectors to organize scientific and technical training, guiding new production models, suitable to the conditions of each household. Thanks to proactively changing production thinking and boldly borrowing preferential loans, many members have risen up to do effective economic activities.
Up to now, the total outstanding debt managed by the Association has reached more than 8.7 billion VND, of which 30 members have borrowed 1.5 billion VND from the Social Policy Bank to develop their family economic model. Not only that, the Association has also built an internal fund of more than 130 million VND for members in difficult circumstances to borrow at low interest rates. As a result, the entire Association no longer has poor members, 100% of member households have solid houses, of which 175 are well-off and rich, accounting for over 86%.
Promoting the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers, each veteran academy member continues to write his or her own journey through actions and dedication, so that Tay Ninh homeland can be more steadfast on the path of innovation./.
