Spreading cultural values

In the flow of national culture, women are both guardians and transmitters, spreading positive cultural values within their families and communities. Women are not only keepers of family traditions and nurturers of character, but also bridges between generations, between tradition and modernity, between the past and the future.

From everyday activities to cultural and artistic events, women are contributing to illuminating local cultural identity and creating new vitality in this era of integration and development. Each woman, through love, sacrifice, and creativity, has been and continues to contribute to shaping ethical standards, character, and a beautiful lifestyle rich in national identity.

The People's Union also plays an important role in preserving and promoting cultural values such as cuisine, festivals, traditional costumes, and folk songs. They are active participants in cultural and artistic activities, contributing to enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the community.

According to Ms. Pham Thi My Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, for many years, the Department and the Provincial Women's Union have signed a cooperation plan to promote cultural, family, sports , and tourism activities in the province; participating in state management activities in the field of culture and family such as: being a member of the Steering Committee for major provincial holidays, the Steering Committee for family affairs of the province, participating in judging panels for art, cooking, and flower arrangement competitions…

For many consecutive years, the Provincial Women's Union has organized the
For many consecutive years, the Provincial Women's Union has organized the "Ao Dai Week" to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8th.

Over the years, the Provincial Women's Union has launched and maintained the "Ao Dai Week" to celebrate International Women's Day (March 8th) and Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20th), receiving enthusiastic support from officials and employees of agencies and departments from the provincial to the grassroots level. Women prioritize wearing Ao Dai when attending celebrations, commemorating events, or taking souvenir photos at tourist spots and historical sites. This contributes to preserving and promoting the value of "Ao Dai - a Vietnamese cultural heritage."

During the period 2020-2025, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with women's unions at all levels to organize many meaningful and practical activities contributing to enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the people, such as: the "Tet Cake and Sweets" contest; the "Elegant Ao Dai" contest, the "Elegant Ao Ba Ba" contest, the "Spring Song Singing Festival"; participation in exchanges and activities of traditional music clubs… attracting nearly 3,000 women participants.

Participating in activities

Women's Unions at all levels actively participated in Tet activities for the military and civilians with many meaningful activities such as: Tet flower arrangement contest, Tet rice cake wrapping contest "Military-Civilian Solidarity" with 13,000 rice cakes and 350 savory pancakes, donated to poor families and families of policy beneficiaries to celebrate the spring festival; contributing to preserving the beautiful traditional culture of the people of Southern Vietnam.

During the Tet holiday for the military and civilians and the Khmer ethnic minority's Cultural and Sports Festival in 2025, held in Tra Con commune, Ms. Nguyen Thi Trac Lin, then Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Tra On district, along with the people of Tra Con, woke up at 3-4 am to wrap 450 sticky rice cakes to give to the military and civilians. "Many women and the people wrapped sticky rice cakes together."

Everyone was cheerful, wrapping the rice cakes while chatting with each other. The steaming pots of rice cakes, the cheerful laughter and conversation, created a warm and cozy atmosphere. Regardless of whether they were soldiers or civilians, everyone gathered together, sharing the work and pouring warmth, unity, and hope for a peaceful and prosperous spring into each rice cake. "These women played a crucial role in keeping the flame alive in the family and spreading beautiful cultural values," shared Ms. Trac Lin.

Culture is expressed in every action, every word, every family tradition.
Culture is expressed in every behavior, every word, every family tradition.

Furthermore, women's associations are a core force in consolidating and maintaining models for preventing and combating domestic violence, projects for promoting and educating on ethics and lifestyles within families, sustainable family development clubs, and reliable community support centers. Currently, in the province, 100% of communes and wards have implemented models, projects, and clubs by the Department of Culture and the Women's Union at all levels to support the building of happy and sustainable families, aiming towards the common goal of building prosperous, progressive, happy, and civilized families.

Ms. Ngo Thi Ngoc Yen, President of the Women's Union of Long Thanh commune, said that during each regular meeting, the union incorporates the promotion of building happy and sustainable families. Through thematic talks and dramatizations, the women help preserve the beautiful cultural values of the nation and share ways to raise children and build happy families.

According to the Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, Do Thi Hue Anh, not only within the family, but also at all levels of the Women's Union in the province, many movements and campaigns have been widely implemented, notably the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement, the "Building a Family with 5 No's and 3 Cleanliness Standards" campaign, and the "Women Actively Studying, Working Creatively, and Building Happy Families" movement. Many good models and new approaches initiated by women have been effectively implemented, such as: "Women's Self-Managed Green, Clean, and Beautiful Roads," "Exemplary Culturally Rich Families," and "Women Speaking Kind Words and Doing Good Deeds"...

Preserving and developing culture

Ms. Pham Thi My Hanh further stated that, in order to create conditions for women to continue to play an important role in preserving and developing culture, and to create a foundation and driving force for sustainable local development in the future, it is necessary to strengthen propaganda and education, and raise awareness among women members about the role and responsibility of women in preserving and developing national culture. The content of education on ethics, lifestyle, cultural conduct, gender equality, and prevention and control of domestic violence should be incorporated into association activities, schools, families, and communities.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will closely coordinate with the Provincial Women's Union to organize workshops, seminars, and training courses on skills and criteria for cultural conduct in the family, prevention and control of domestic violence, implementation of gender equality, and building the model of the modern Vietnamese woman: "Confident, self-respecting, loyal, and capable."

Furthermore, women should play a leading role in cultural conduct, educating their children, preserving family traditions, and building compassionate and united relationships in residential areas. Each woman should be a "cultural ambassador" in her own home, at the workplace, and in society.

Ms. Do Thi Hue Anh - Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union: Promoting the role of women in preserving and developing culture is not only a task, but also a sacred mission of every woman in the family and society. Culture begins with simple things, from words, ways of living, ways of behaving; from love and sharing in each family and each community. It is women who breathe life into these values, so that Vietnamese culture will forever endure and shine in the new era.

At the same time, we will continue to maintain and expand good models and new approaches. We will promote the "All People Unite to Build a Culturally Rich Life" movement, linked with the "Building a Family with 5 No's and 3 Cleanliness Standards" campaign, thereby affirming the core role of women in building a healthy, safe, and civilized cultural environment.

Facilitate women's participation in creating, managing, and enjoying cultural activities. Develop cultural and artistic programs to serve remote, disadvantaged, and ethnic minority communities in the province. Facilitate exchanges between cultural and artistic clubs and groups.

Encourage women to participate in creating tourism products linked to the preservation of traditional culture. Strengthen the application of information technology and digital transformation in cultural activities, spread positive cultural values on social media, contribute to the fight against harmful cultural products, and guide the aesthetic sense and lifestyle of the younger generation.
