In the last days of October, when we arrived at Nam Cum 2 village (Muong Te commune), we could easily see Mr. Lo Van Thich - a prestigious person in the village, cleaning the village road with the locals. At the age of 65, his hair was already gray, but his steps were still quick and he always had a gentle smile.

Commenting on him, Ms. Phin Thi Chinh (a resident of Nam Cum 2 village) said: "Mr. Thich is enthusiastic in propagating and mobilizing people to comply with the Party's policies and the State's laws. He is also always exemplary in all activities of the village. Now the village is clean and beautiful, everyone is more aware of maintaining hygiene, actively building roads, cultural houses... Everyone in the village respects him."

The village has 147 households, including 5 poor households. Every day, Mr. Thich goes to each alley, knocks on each door, and encourages people to unite and help each other develop the economy and reduce poverty. Sometimes he mobilizes people to contribute to building houses for poor households, and sometimes he goes to each household to encourage people to increase crop cultivation and develop the family economic model.

Mr. Lo Van Thich confided: "If we want people to listen, believe and follow, we must first set an example. Now the Party and the State care a lot, people just need to be united and work hard, then life will improve."

It is known that the entire Muong Te commune currently has 11 prestigious people in 11 villages. They are all exemplary people, knowledgeable about customs and practices, capable of mobilizing the masses and are "spiritual support" in the community.

The role of "locomotive" in the new rural movement

Commenting on the role of prestigious people in the process of building new rural areas in the locality, Mr. Vang Van Chau - Vice Chairman of Muong Te Commune People's Committee said: "In the process of implementing the new rural construction program, prestigious people play a very important role. They are the bridge to help the government grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the people; at the same time, mobilize people to agree and join hands to implement the criteria. Thanks to that, up to now, Muong Te commune has achieved 16/19 new rural criteria".

Thanks to the participation of prestigious people in propaganda and mobilization work, people in the commune actively participate in building new rural areas.

In recent times, prestigious people in the commune have actively promoted and mobilized people to promote their internal strength and join hands to build their increasingly innovative homeland. From the beginning of 2023 to now, people in the commune have donated 796m² of land, contributed 965 working days and 685 million VND to build rural roads and build welfare works. These results clearly demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, community responsibility and the pioneering role of prestigious people in promoting the movement to build new rural areas, contributing to creating a spacious appearance and improving people's lives.

Not only stopping at propaganda, prestigious people also directly participate in mediating conflicts and small disputes in the community, maintaining security and order at the grassroots level. Thanks to their perseverance and ingenuity, many cases are resolved right in the villages, without becoming "hot spots". Since the beginning of the year, there have been no cases of law violations in the commune.

Not only do they actively encourage people to participate in economic development, but they are also the ones who "keep the soul" of ethnic cultures. They encourage people to abandon backward customs and organize civilized traditional festivals and New Year's Eves imbued with national identity.

Prestigious people quietly contribute their efforts and efforts every day to change their homeland.

Mr. Lo Van Thich confided: “I always tell my children and grandchildren to preserve the beauty of our nation’s customs and practices; keep what is good, boldly eliminate what is outdated. Now people have gradually abandoned bad customs in weddings, funerals, and festivals. Activities are organized in a more civilized and economical way.”

Thanks to the role of prestigious people, the new rural construction movement in Muong Te is spreading strongly. The long concrete roads, newly built houses, green fields... are vivid evidence of the spirit of solidarity and unanimity of the Party Committee, government and people.

Mr. Vang Van Chau - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee affirmed: "When prestigious people accompany, each policy and initiative is accepted by the people more quickly and effectively. They are the important factor helping Muong Te complete the remaining criteria to reach the new rural finish line in the near future."
