(Baoquangngai.vn) - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Hoang Tuan has just approved the project document on technical support for preserving traditional salt fields associated with developing community tourism in Pho Thanh ward (Duc Pho town) sponsored by the United Nations Development Program, the Small Projects Funding Program - Global Environment Facility (UNDP/GEF - SGP).
The project has a total investment of nearly 2 billion VND. The Farmers' Association of Pho Thanh Ward is assigned to be the project owner, with the implementation period from May 2024 to October 2025.
The project will be implemented with many diverse and rich activities with the goal of preserving traditional salt fields, promoting Sa Huynh cultural values and developing community tourism. Specifically, raising public awareness in salt field conservation, the impact of garbage, and the importance of mangrove ecosystems.

Developing traditional Sa Huynh salt based on promoting traditional cultural values associated with environmental protection and mangrove ecosystems. Helping Sa Huynh become a destination for experiencing the salt industry, a community learning tourism destination connecting Sa Huynh culture and ecosystems.
Sa Huynh salt production was established in the 19th century and has been passed down through generations, preserved to this day, becoming a typical traditional occupation of Sa Huynh residents. Sa Huynh salt has built a brand, has an abundant labor force, and Sa Huynh salt workers are hard-working and diligent. Infrastructure systems serving the salt fields such as: sea dykes, roads, water supply and drainage systems, etc. have been invested in and basically built.
Coming to Sa Huynh salt fields, visitors will have interesting experiences, learn and research about the ecosystem on the salt fields and their impact on the environment. Visitors can also experience making salt grains, salt flowers, watch the sunrise and sunset on the salt fields. Combine salt field tourism with some famous tourist destinations around such as: Sa Huynh Beach, Sa Huynh Cultural Exhibition House; Pho Khanh pottery village, Go Co community tourism village.
