Mr. D.V.D, residing in Hon Dat district ( Kien Giang ), was hit by a lead bullet that went from his cheekbone to the back of his neck on the left side and is being treated at the hospital.

As a result, 3 fishermen on 3 fishing boats were injured. Of these, 2 fishermen were shot and treated at Kien Giang General Hospital: Mr. D.V.D (20 years old), residing in Hon Dat district (Kien Giang); Mr. NVM (34 years old), residing in Chau Thanh A district ( Hau Giang ).
Mr. D.V.D was hit by a lead bullet that went from his cheekbone to the back of his neck on the left side. Mr. NVM was hit by a bullet that went through his left calf and stuck to the bone. After surgery on the evening of November 9, the health of the two fishermen improved.
Doctor Phan Kim Y - Deputy Head of the Department of Dentistry, Kien Giang General Hospital said that the hospital received patient D.V.D on the evening of November 9. The patient's cheek was swollen, and when examined and X-rayed, it was suspected that he was shot. Doctors consulted and performed surgery to remove a flat bullet, measuring 1.5mx1.5cm, from behind the patient's left ear.
Doctor Phan Kim Y said the most feared thing during surgery due to the bullet penetration was bleeding, but fortunately the surgery stopped the bleeding well. If the patient's health continues to improve, he can be discharged after 5-7 days.
Mr. NVM had surgery to remove the bullet and is being treated at Kien Giang General Hospital.
Mr. Đ.V.Đ is still in shock from the sudden attack. Mr. Đ.V.Đ said that he has been a fisherman for nearly 4 years and this is the first time he has been attacked like this. “That night, I was fishing at sea when I heard a cry for help. I saw a ship in the Kien Giang convoy being bombed with petrol. I went to check on the situation and was hit by a bullet. This attack shocked me so much that I planned not to go to sea anymore and instead find a job on shore,” said Mr. Đ.V.Đ.
Mr. NVM said that his house is in Hau Giang province but he has been working at sea for many years in Ha Tien city. In 6 years of working at sea, this is the first time he has witnessed such a dangerous attack with petrol bombs and lead bullets. According to Mr. NVM, there were about 30 fishing boats from Kien Giang to Ca Mau waters... As of the day of the attack, the boats had been fishing for more than 2 months. "I hope the government and relevant agencies will handle the incident seriously so that fishermen can feel secure to stay at sea and earn money to take care of their families," said Mr. NVM.
