The surgery was performed by 2 surgeons: Associate Professor, Dr. Ha Huy Tai, a leading expert with over 40 years of experience, former Head of Training and Line Guidance Department, Central Eye Hospital and MSc. Dr. Nguyen Thi Bang Sam, PHACO surgeon with 20,000 successful surgeries, Deputy Head of General Treatment Department, Phu Yen Eye Hospital. In the 25 surgeries, there were 19 cases of strabismus, 3 cases of ptosis and 3 cases of congenital entropion. The program was accompanied by The Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF) sponsoring the surgery costs in the project "Improving the comprehensive eye care model 2023-2026".

More than 10 years ago, FHF initiated the program “For the eyes of children” and sponsored it in the 2000s. After that, “For the eyes of children” became an annual program of Phu Yen Eye Hospital. During the period 2011-2022, the program was organized with the hospital’s budget. From 2023, FHF launched a new project and continued to accompany Phu Yen Eye Hospital in this program until now.
According to Dr. Huynh Phuc Nhi, Director of Phu Yen Eye Hospital, through the program "For the eyes of children", hundreds of children with some congenital eye diseases have been treated for free by surgery, improving their vision, eliminating self-consciousness, and returning to normal life.
