The child was admitted to the Quang Ngai Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital on the evening of January 19th for emergency treatment, suspected of swallowing a foreign object. Upon examination and chest and abdominal X-rays, doctors discovered the foreign object in the stomach.
Shortly afterward, the child underwent an endoscopy, and the medical team successfully removed the foreign object, a silver chain resembling a bracelet that the child usually wore. In just the first 20 days of the new year, the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital received and successfully treated two cases of foreign objects in the digestive tract and one case in the respiratory tract, demonstrating that the risk of foreign object accidents in young children remains ever-present.
Therefore, doctors advise parents to pay special attention to their children, avoiding contact with small, easily swallowed objects. If they suspect their child has swallowed or inhaled a foreign object, they should quickly take the child to the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for examination and timely, safe treatment.
