On November 8, the Philippine Football Federation announced the list of the country's national team preparing for the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. The name that received a lot of attention was Santiago Rublico. He plays as a right-back for the U19 Atletico Madrid team.
Rublico was born in 2005 and is valued at 50,000 euros (equivalent to 1.3 billion VND). He has just played 2 matches in the UEFA Youth League (European Cup 1 for youth teams).
In fact, this is not the first time Rublico has been called up to the Philippine national team. This player has played 4 friendly matches for the national team. At the 32nd SEA Games, Rublico's performance did not leave much of an impression, partly because the U22 Philippines was considered a weak team in the tournament.

Another star of Philippine football still present in the list is Neil Etheridge. The experience and class of this goalkeeper will be a big challenge for the Vietnamese team. Currently, Etheridge is still playing for Birmingham City in the English First Division.
In the list just announced, Jefferson Tabinas is a rather special name. The player born in 1998 has dual citizenship of the Philippines and Japan. He grew up at the famous Kawasaki Frontale training center. The 1m82 tall center back is playing for Mito Hollyhock in J.League 2. He is expected to bring a new breeze to the defense of the Philippine team.
Veteran midfielder Stephan Schrock has been called up to the Philippine national team. After many years of dedication, Shrock still plays an important role both professionally and mentally with his teammates. Coach Michael Weiss has no intention of eliminating this German-born player.
The rest of the Philippine team is made up of players playing in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and some names playing in the domestic league.
The Philippines will play Vietnam at home on November 16. They will then host Indonesia five days later.
