Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh (middle) inspected the management and operation of An Hiep landfill (Ba Tri).
At An Hiep landfill, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh inspected the actual landfill work, odor management, covering the landfill, leachate treatment, and the progress of the construction of a new landfill reception area under the landfill expansion project (phase 2). At the same time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also listened to reports from the Ba Tri District People's Committee and the unit directly managing and operating the landfill on the situation of receiving and treating waste at the landfill, the payment of waste treatment costs in Ba Tri District; difficulties, problems and urgent matters that need to be handled immediately.
Regarding the landfill expansion project (phase 2), the report of the Ba Tri District People's Committee stated that the District People's Committee has approved the compensation and support plan in 4 phases for 16 households, the total recovered land area is 44,216m2 , the total compensation and support cost is over 14,447 billion VND. Up to now, the district has paid compensation to 15/16 households, the amount is over 13,659 billion VND, the remaining 1 household has not received, the amount is 788,454 million VND, with the reason that the household agreed to receive the money but has not authorized it because the family lives far away, when the authorization is completed, the compensation will be received.
Through a field survey and listening to reports from relevant units, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh requested the management and operation unit of An Hiep landfill to focus on immediately handling problems arising in receiving and treating waste, such as stagnant rainwater, leachate, some areas of damaged or torn tarpaulins that emit foul odors; promptly cover the new waste receiving area with tarpaulins to limit foul odors and affect surrounding residential areas. At the same time, speed up the implementation of the An Hiep landfill expansion investment project (phase 2) to soon supplement the capacity to receive and treat waste in the near future.
