The patient has clinical symptoms of perception, drowsiness when awake, poor respiratory condition, headache, abdominal pain, visual impairment... After many hours of intensive treatment, by early afternoon of August 2, the condition of the 3 children was temporarily stable, not life-threatening. From the test results, clinical examination and consultation, the condition of the 3 patients improved significantly, they were alert, had less nausea, vomiting, headaches, and improved vision...
Visiting the health of the patients poisoned by Hong Chau fruit, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented financial support, kindly visited and encouraged the children and their families to feel secure in their treatment. At the same time, he requested the family to actively propagate the incident to relatives and the community to know and prevent similar incidents from happening.
It is known that the 11 children who were poisoned are all ethnic minorities, in extremely difficult circumstances; their families are poor households. In response to the families' circumstances, the Board of Directors of the Provincial General Hospital mobilized organizations, individuals, and benefactors to support medicine, clothes, food, and support trips to take 1 deceased child back to his hometown and take 3 children to the National Children's Hospital for treatment.
The Hong Chau tree is a climbing plant that often grows in rocky mountain areas. In Dong Van district, the Hong Chau tree often grows in the communes of Ta Lung, Ta Phin, Lung Tao, Ma Le and Dong Van town. The Hong Chau fruit is round, almost as big as a chicken egg, when ripe it is purple and usually ripens from June to August every year. Hong Chau is a very poisonous fruit, when eaten it will cause respiratory failure, cardiovascular collapse leading to death. There is currently no specific treatment, so treatment of the root cause and treatment of symptoms is the main thing. Through the incident, it shows that localities need to focus on propaganda work, implementing effective measures to avoid recurrence of Hong Chau fruit poisoning.
