- Dengue fever is a disease that often increases during the rainy season, when weather conditions are favorable for the development of disease-transmitting mosquitoes. The provincial health sector has focused on implementing disease prevention measures early on, starting from the grassroots level, contributing to protecting the health of the people in the area.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health , from the beginning of 2026 to the present, the whole country has recorded nearly 32,000 cases of dengue fever, including 4 deaths, concentrated mainly in the southern region. In Lang Son province, from January 1, 2026 to April 19, 2026, no cases of dengue fever have been recorded.

According to the Department of Health's report, in 2025, Lang Son recorded 65 dengue fever outbreaks with 333 cases and 2 deaths. Monitoring shows that dengue fever outbreaks are scattered in late April and intensify in September and October each year. Given the risk of earlier and longer-lasting outbreaks, the health sector has directed health units to strengthen disease prevention and control measures from the beginning of the year. Accordingly, the Provincial Center for Disease Control issued Plan No. 25 dated January 15, 2026, on the implementation of the dengue fever prevention and control plan for 2026, requesting health units to strengthen close monitoring, early detection of outbreaks; and thorough treatment upon detection to prevent the spread and prolongation of the disease. At the same time, it requested units to review and ensure adequate logistics, supplies, chemicals, equipment, and personnel for disease prevention and control.
To enhance the effectiveness of disease prevention and control, the Provincial Center for Disease Control has established vector surveillance and investigation teams in various areas. Simultaneously, the unit organized two training courses for medical staff at regional health centers and commune/ward health stations throughout the province on dengue fever prevention and control. In particular, the campaign to educate and mobilize the public to participate in the "larva eradication" campaign was emphasized as a key solution. This has improved the rapid response capacity of grassroots healthcare, ensuring the protection of public health right from the community level.
Dengue fever is an acute infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus, transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The disease usually has a sudden onset with symptoms such as high fever, headache, muscle pain, nausea, and rash; severe cases can lead to bleeding, shock, and death if not treated promptly. |
Regional health centers and commune/ward health stations throughout the province have urgently issued plans for dengue fever prevention and control in their respective areas. Dr. Tran Van Toan, Director of Yen Binh Commune Health Station, stated: In 2025, Yen Binh commune recorded 40 cases of dengue fever. To proactively prevent and control the disease, the unit has issued a plan and advised the Yen Binh Commune People's Committee to strengthen the commune's Steering Committee for disease prevention and control; and enhance the dengue fever surveillance system. The station, in coordination with various departments and organizations, has also extensively disseminated information through mass media using various methods.
Dr. Duong Anh Dung, Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control at the Lang Son Provincial Center for Disease Control, advises: To prevent dengue fever, people need to proactively clean the environment, kill mosquitoes and larvae; sleep under mosquito nets day and night, wear long clothes, and use mosquito repellent when necessary. When experiencing symptoms such as high fever, headache, muscle pain, and rash, seek medical attention promptly and do not self-treat at home. Promoting the role and responsibility of all levels, sectors, families, and the entire society in dengue fever prevention and control will contribute to controlling and containing the disease, preventing outbreaks and spread in the community.
