Within the framework of the State visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic by General Secretary To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, attending the 50th Anniversary of Laos' National Day (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2025), on the afternoon of December 2, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam coordinated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Laos to organize the Opening Ceremony of the Vietnam Film Week in Laos and a photo exhibition on the relationship between the two countries.
Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam and Ms. Naly Sisoulith, wife of General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith were guests of honor attending these events.
At the opening ceremony of the Film Week, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly and Mrs. Naly Sisoulith, along with more than 1,000 delegates, Lao audiences, and the Vietnamese community in Laos, watched the documentary "President Kaysone Phomvihane with Vietnam" produced by the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio to celebrate the 105th birthday of President Kaysone Phomvihane - an outstanding leader of the Lao revolution, a great friend and close comrade of the Party, State and people of Vietnam.
The film realistically recreates the steadfast revolutionary journey, ideological stature and great contributions of President Kaysone to the cause of national liberation, construction and development of Laos; at the same time clearly shows the close affection, trust and strong connection that the two countries have together forged throughout history.
The Vietnamese Film Week in Laos was screened from December 2-6, introducing six outstanding works that won high awards at Vietnamese Film Festivals, such as the documentary “President Kaysone Phomvihane with Vietnam”, the films “Two Mothers”, “Red Rain”, “Death Battle in the Sky”, “Tunnel: The Sun in the Dark” and “I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass”.
Visiting the photo exhibition "The great friendship between Vietnam and Laos", the two ladies were moved to admire 50 photos which are valuable documents, marking the historical journey of the two peoples, from the years of standing side by side in the struggle for national liberation, to the process of comprehensive cooperation in building and defending the Fatherland today.
In his opening speech, Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, emphasized that this event is a meaningful cultural and artistic bridge, a vivid demonstration of the strong solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and absolute trust between the two Parties, two States and two peoples. Mr. Vansy Kuamua, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Laos, expressed his appreciation for the cultural gift that Vietnam brought on this important occasion, affirming that this event is a source of inspiration for the young generations of the two countries to actively cultivate and build a pure legacy of solidarity for further development and prosperity in the future.

The Film Week and Photo Exhibition brought to Lao audiences warm feelings and close perspectives about the country and people of Vietnam as well as the close relationship between the Vietnamese and Lao peoples, thereby contributing to strengthening understanding and cultural exchange between the two countries.
The event was joyfully welcomed by the Lao people in the jubilant atmosphere of the country's important holiday. The two ladies highly appreciated the significance of the cultural activities, saying that this was not only a simple cultural and artistic event, but also clearly depicted the loyal and steadfast relationship, which has become a valuable asset of the two nations. This was also an opportunity to review the golden pages of history, pay tribute to the generations who have fostered friendship, and remind the young generation of the two countries to inherit and further deepen this unique relationship.
Previously, on the afternoon of December 1, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly and Mrs. Naly Sisoulith attended the tour of the Lao Museum of Contemporary Art organized by the Lao Ministry of Culture and Tourism in coordination with the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is a large-scale and symbolic cultural-artistic project to preserve, conserve and honor the artistic, cultural and historical values of the Lao people through a modern, sustainable exhibition space imbued with national identity.
