Therefore, the Dong Nai City Women's Union recently organized a workshop on solutions to improve the quality of activities and promote the role of women in disseminating information and mobilizing support for agricultural production and business, and food safety.

There are still difficulties and challenges.

Speaking at the workshop, City Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, and President of the City Women's Union, Le Thi Thanh Loan, stated: In recent times, the Women's Union at all levels in the city has implemented many creative activities and achieved many remarkable results, contributing to improving women's capacity in the production and business of safe agricultural products, gradually forming a value chain of agricultural products associated with safety and sustainability. In the OCOP Program (One Commune One Product Program), many products produced by women have been recognized and upgraded... However, alongside the achievements, there are still difficulties and challenges; the work of disseminating information and mobilizing the production and business of safe agricultural products still has many limitations.

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Tam, lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Vietnam Women's Academy, shared: "The work of promoting and encouraging the production and business of agricultural products and food safety in some localities is still largely superficial, only focusing on disseminating information and failing to create profound changes in the awareness and behavior of members and women. Communication methods haven't kept pace with trends, and their reach is limited. The capacity of some women involved in the production and business of agricultural products and food safety is still limited in terms of knowledge related to food safety, brand building, and legal regulations on food safety... affecting product quality. Besides the lack of innovation in association activities, the linkage between associations and businesses, cooperatives, scientists , and market support organizations is not strong enough, leading to fragmented production and unstable output..."

According to Ms. Phan Thi Thanh Tam, Head of the Cooperative Economics Department of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the limitations of producing and trading safe agricultural products also stem from a lack of capital, difficulty accessing credit, and price competition from similar products. In addition, limited management skills, marketing expertise, and digital transformation capabilities are also barriers to the production and trading of safe agricultural products.

Ms. Tran Thi Ha, owner of Cohafood (Trang Dai ward), said: "When I started producing clean and safe food, I faced many obstacles. These included pressure from high raw material costs; strict storage conditions; and a shorter shelf life for clean and safe products compared to those using additives and preservatives. Furthermore, the price of clean and safe products is often higher, leading to competition from cheaper products. Consumer awareness of the value of safe products is also uneven..." Despite facing many difficulties and challenges, with the dedication of someone with formal training in food technology, Ms. Ha remains steadfast in her commitment to additive-free production, prioritizing processing techniques to create delicious food, and building customer trust through transparency and integrity.

Propose many good models and solutions.

Besides assessing the current situation, the delegates attending the aforementioned workshop also proposed many effective models and solutions to improve the effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization efforts for safe food production and business.

Ms. Bui Thai Le Khuong, Deputy Head of the Food Safety Department of the Department of Health, stated that ensuring food safety is an important and long-term task, requiring the synchronized involvement of the entire political system and society. In this context, women's unions at all levels play a core role in disseminating information, mobilizing support, and organizing implementation at the grassroots level.

Ms. Khuong suggested that women's unions at all levels should coordinate and promote activities to raise awareness and compliance with food safety laws among female members, especially those who own small businesses, operate food service businesses, street food vendors, and those directly involved in food processing. She emphasized the role of women's unions at all levels in supporting and connecting the production and consumption of safe food; enhancing the capacity and support of members participating in the production and business of safe food; and promoting the role of women in consuming safe food. She urged female members to choose and use food with clear and safe origins, building the image of women as "wise consumers," and contributing to shaping safe food consumption habits.

The Vietnam Women's Union needs to shift its focus from short-term support to long-term, comprehensive capacity building for its members through in-depth training programs; equipping them with business, marketing, and branding skills; supporting women's entrepreneurship in the field of clean agriculture; and enhancing women's digital capabilities.

Ms. LE THI THANH TAM, Lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City Branch of the Vietnam Women's Academy.

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Tam, lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City branch of the Vietnam Women's Academy, proposed five groups of solutions related to innovating the content and methods of communication; enhancing women's capacity; building and replicating effective models; strengthening the linkage of the four stakeholders (State - farmers - scientists - businesses); and improving support mechanisms and policies. Among these, the group of solutions focusing on enhancing women's capacity is considered fundamental, ensuring the sustainability of agricultural production and business activities, and food safety.

Based on local experience, Ms. Hoang Lan Anh, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Xoai Ward and Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Dong Xoai Ward, suggested that: The criteria for clean kitchens in the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness, 3 Safety" family building campaign should be concretized into the union's programs and activities; model projects should be developed to support the dissemination of information and mobilization of members and women to consume clean food, process food cleanly, and produce and trade safe food... When women join hands for safe food, not only is the quality of life improved, but a green and sustainable lifestyle is also spread, contributing to building a civilized and healthy community.
