This is considered a key task aimed at creating a modern, integrated urban landscape that meets development requirements and serves major diplomatic events, including the APEC 2027 year to be held in Phu Quoc.
According to Mr. Tran Minh Khoa, the Sub-project for the renovation and upgrading of infrastructure in Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone and the Sub-committee for the renovation and upgrading of infrastructure in Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone have been established, creating a legal basis and favorable conditions for the synchronized implementation of projects.
Regarding the progress of investment projects, the group of projects to renovate and upgrade the urban transport system, standardize sidewalks, plant trees, and install public lighting is being actively implemented. Projects such as the Ong Tri canal embankment (phase 2), branch road 2 in the Bai Truong area, maintaining the public lighting system until 2026, upgrading urban roads, the Suoi Cai - Ganh Dau route (section from Rach Vem - Ganh Dau intersection), and connecting roads around the square and administrative center have all had their contractors selected.
Projects funded by the special administrative region's budget are currently under construction and are expected to be completed in 2026.
Regarding the group of projects related to parks, squares, and urban greenery, they are being implemented according to the contract schedule. This contributes to maintaining a green, clean, and beautiful landscape, while also improving the quality of public spaces for residents and tourists.
The Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone urban renovation project, with an estimated total investment of approximately 300 billion VND, includes items such as asphalt paving of roads, maintenance and repair of sidewalks, roundabouts, parks, manholes, catch basins, and upgrading of the drainage system. A proposal for investment policy has been prepared and submitted to the public investment appraisal council for consideration.
The investment plan is expected to be approved in January 2026, investment preparation procedures will be completed in February 2026, and the bidding process and contractor selection will take place in the third quarter of 2026.
In addition, the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone continues to survey, calculate, and adjust other contents to serve the development of Phu Quoc tourism and APEC 2027.
