Phu Tho has 6 special national historical sites.

After the merger, the entire province has 979 classified historical sites, including 6 special national historical sites: Hung Temple Historical Site; Tay Thien - Tam Dao; Binh Son Tower; Tho Tang Communal House; Huong Canh Communal House Cluster; Xom Trai Cave and Lang Vanh Rock Shelter; 176 national historical sites and 79 provincial historical sites.

Locals and tourists from all over the country make pilgrimages to Hung Temple during the Ancestor Commemoration Day.

Regarding intangible cultural heritage, the province currently has 5 UNESCO-listed heritages: the Hung Kings worship belief, Xoan singing, the tug-of-war ritual and game (Huong Canh tug-of-war), Ca Tru singing, and the practice of the Tam Phu Mother Goddess worship of the Vietnamese people (spreading area); there are 41 national intangible cultural heritages; and 6 national treasures including: the Hung Temple bronze drum, the bronze belt buckle set, the Nha Chuong collection, the Au Co Mother statue, the stone Buddhist altar; and the glazed ceramic tower of Tro Pagoda.

The collection of Nha Chuong (a type of traditional Vietnamese ornament) is on display at the Hung Vuong Museum.

In 2025, Phu Tho province completed 6 dossiers requesting the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to include them in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2025: the Cocoon Stealing Festival in Di Nau commune, the Doi Tet festival of the Muong people in Thu Cuc commune; Traditional crafts include the Muong people's "Art of creating skirt waistband patterns"; the Muong people's Thuong Rang singing and Meng dance; the Cao Lan people's rice planting ceremony; and the Dan Tri Spring Festival. In addition, the 1970 Youth Economic Zone site in Minh Dai commune has been classified as a national historical and cultural relic; and seven provincial-level historical and cultural relics are also being considered. Surveys are underway to support the reconstruction of the Ong Khiu and Ba Khiu procession festival at Thanh Dinh communal house in Hy Cuong commune. A dossier is being prepared to propose the classification of the Tien Pagoda complex as a special national historical and cultural relic and scenic spot, and the dossier for the Hoang Chung communal house (Tien Lu commune) as a national relic is being finalized. The Muong shamanistic ritual dossier is being submitted to UNESCO for inclusion in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguard.
