At the Meeting between the government and enterprises recently organized by the People's Committee of Can Tho City, Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, acknowledged: In addition to the achieved results, enterprises are facing many difficulties and challenges. The city commits to regularly review and share difficulties with enterprises and considers this an urgent requirement that needs to be resolved in the spirit of service and companionship.

At the above meeting, representatives of the business community thanked the city government for its active support in helping to stabilize production and business activities. Enterprises also said that organizing the meeting at the end of the year was very meaningful, helping enterprises have a basis to build orientations and plans for operations in the new year. Representatives of associations and enterprises presented many thoughts, wishes and problems. Typically, the issue of site clearance and land procedures caused delays in implementing business plans. The Tax Department needs to review land rental taxes to promptly resolve enterprises' recommendations, creating favorable conditions for enterprises to have business opportunities. In addition, a number of issues related to electricity supply; reducing the frequency of inspections and checks of enterprises; the need for policies to commend enterprises with good business achievements, especially export enterprises... were also frankly presented by enterprises.

Ms. Duong Ngoc Khanh, representative of TKG TaeKwang Can Tho Joint Stock Company, said that in implementing the compensation plan to support the TaeKwang Can Tho Factory Project, the Company has so far compensated 536/541 affected households, with a total area of ​​58.4 hectares, reaching 98%. However, the Project is still stuck with 3 cases where compensation has been received but the site has not been handed over. In addition, during the project implementation, 3 more cases requiring relocation with an area of ​​1,931 square meters arose. In these cases, the authorities have held meetings and agreed on the legality of land compensation and support. The Company hopes that the city leaders will soon consider and resolve the compensation and support plan as well as issue a decision to reclaim land so that the Company can ensure the project is developed on schedule.

Rong Viet Investment and Tourism Trading Company Limited, Can Tho Branch, recommends that the leaders of the City People's Committee study and develop a special mechanism for investment and construction of tourist wharves to serve tourists, in line with the orientation of developing waterway tourism, exploiting the advantages of the city's rivers. Along with that, the city needs to position and build tourism products according to the advantages of each region into a linked region, forming a series of inter-regional tours - routes with specific characteristics, increasing the attraction for tourism in Can Tho and the region. In addition, the city also needs to regularly organize scientific seminars and thematic discussions for researchers, tourism businesses, domestic and foreign experts to participate in giving opinions and suggestions for building products, models and policies for sustainable tourism development; at the same time, establish specialized teams/groups to coordinate with businesses in the process of implementing programs and projects. From there, periodically evaluate the implementation results, promptly remove arising problems and prioritize budget allocation and investment, especially for traffic infrastructure and tourism infrastructure connecting key tourist spots and routes...

Representing the business community in the city, Mr. Vo Hoang Tam, Vice President of the Can Tho City Business Association (CBA), said that in the process of synthesizing business opinions, CBA also recorded the reflections of a number of members who are businesses operating in the fields of real estate, trade and services. Accordingly, CBA recommends that the city promptly review, adjust and complete the construction planning and urban architecture management regulations in a flexible and controlled manner, which will create conditions to attract high-quality projects, improve land use efficiency, but still ensure the requirements of state management, order and urban aesthetics.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Duyen, Director of the Can Tho Investment - Trade Promotion and Exhibition Fair Center (Center), said that to prepare the content for the meeting, the Center sent out a survey to collect opinions from businesses and investors operating in the city. The Center received recommendations from 16 businesses with 32 contents on credit capital, tax and support policies, consumption market, labor resources, land, inland waterway port operation license, production materials, identification name certificates, etc.

Accordingly, enterprises said it was difficult to access preferential capital sources, especially from the Social Policy Bank and the Cooperative Support Fund. The main reason was the high requirements for documents and collateral. The demand for medium and long-term loans for processing lines, drying, and cold storage for the operations of many enterprises has not been met promptly. Tax incentives for agricultural processing enterprises are not clear; access to support programs for small and medium enterprises is still limited. There is no specific mechanism for OCOP enterprises to invest in deep processing, packaging innovation, and brand identity design. There is no mechanism for stable export connection for small-scale processed products. The source of local unskilled labor, especially skilled labor, is increasingly scarce, not meeting the recruitment needs of companies and enterprises. In addition, contact and coordination with job placement centers is sometimes limited, not meeting the actual recruitment needs of enterprises. Currently, enterprises are also facing difficulties in expanding their factories because they have not been allocated land due to slow and prolonged land lease procedures and related procedures for land plots...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Duyen said that 32 petitions and proposals were compiled and sent to 17 departments and branches for consideration and response to enterprises. Up to now, there have been 10 written responses from departments and branches; 20 petitions and proposals from enterprises have been resolved. Particularly, 1 petition on the procedure for registering for a certificate of identification name (Brandname) through public services has been resolved directly for enterprises by the Can Tho City Public Administration Service Center.

In 2025, Can Tho's economy recorded many positive signals. In the first 11 months of 2025, the industrial production index is estimated to increase by 10% over the same period in 2024; the export value of goods and foreign currency revenue reached 5,026.6 million USD, up 10.6% over the same period in 2024; total retail sales of goods and service revenue is estimated to reach more than 321,887 billion VND, up 16.5% over the same period in 2024; The total number of tourists to the city reached 10,568,000... In the first 11 months of the year, 4,319 new enterprises entered the market with a total registered capital of VND 27,603 billion, an increase of 53.97% in the number of enterprises and an increase of 9.97% in capital compared to the same period in 2024. The city attracted 22 new investment projects, including 1 foreign direct investment (FDI) project with an investment capital of 100 million USD and 21 domestic investment projects with a total registered investment capital of VND 20,216 billion.

Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, said that the city government appreciates the contributions of businesses. Through the opinions from representatives of a number of businesses as well as the answers from departments and branches, it can be seen that there are still many difficulties and problems that need to be solved. To continue to accompany and support businesses more effectively, Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam suggested that departments, branches, People's Committees of communes and wards need to pay attention to reforming administrative procedures, especially in shortening the time to process documents on land, investment, construction, and business registration. At the same time, continue to strongly improve the investment environment, through improving the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI).

Informing the business community, Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam said that in the coming time, the city will continue to invest in economic infrastructure, transportation, and logistics connection with industrial parks and clusters to facilitate investors. Along with that, the city will implement programs and plans to develop businesses, including small and medium enterprises, green and digital transformation investment enterprises; promote trade promotion and expand markets.

“The government and businesses are on the same boat! Therefore, we need to share, understand and accompany each other to overcome difficulties and challenges. The feedback from businesses is not only information but also a basis for the government to review and adjust development policies to better suit reality. The city leaders are committed to listening and removing all difficulties to help businesses in the city develop. This is also a commitment to help the local economy develop more strongly in the coming time,” Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam emphasized.
