Born in 1994, Phùng Khánh Linh is one of the prominent young singer-songwriters of contemporary Vietnamese music, known for her ability to compose and tell stories through music with subtlety and emotion. She first gained recognition after competing in The Voice Vietnam 2015 and achieving success with her hit " Hôm nay tôi buồn " (2018). In 2020, Phùng Khánh Linh released the album "Yesteryear," which is considered one of the outstanding albums of the new era of Vpop. In 2022, the singer released "CITOPIA ," which The Japan Times considered a representative example of the global city-pop wave.

The female singer has received numerous nominations at major domestic music awards such as the Green Wave Awards and the Golden Mai Awards, and has received 7 important nominations at the Dedication Awards, most notably "Song of the Year" (with " Today I'm Sad "), "Album of the Year" ( Yesteryear, CITOPIA ) and "Composer of the Year".

In 2025, Phung Khanh Linh surprised music lovers with a long-term investment in her third studio album, " Between Ten Thousand People ," experimenting with music through a nationwide live band tour, and concluding with compelling live performances on major stages. Released after more than two years of preparation, the album " Among Ten Thousand People " is considered a "coming-of-age ceremony" in Phung Khanh Linh's creative journey. The release strategy was meticulously planned with four lead singles: "I Wish You'd Break My Heart ," " I'm Hurt ," "Crying Black ," and "Confiding in the Night Alone ." Each song is a piece of emotion, guiding listeners step by step into the inner world of the album.

Unlike the nostalgic Yesteryear or the dreamy CITOPIA , Among Ten Thousand People confronts inner reality directly: the scars, loneliness, hurt, and self-questioning of the artist standing amidst the gaze of the crowd. The blend of Alternative Pop, Dream Pop, Punk, and Indie Rock creates a musical space that is both dreamy, edgy, and mesmerizing, which is the album's defining characteristic.

Continuing collaborations with reputable domestic and international producers helped the album achieve international standards while retaining Phung Khanh Linh's unique identity: always feminine and honest. The commercial success also demonstrates strong public reception: the album reached Top 1 on Apple Music Albums just 4 hours after release and held that number for a full month, even during October 2025, a period marked by a packed release schedule and intense competition in the digital music market; simultaneously, all the songs entered the Top 20, a rare milestone for Vpop in October 2025.

If the album " Among Ten Thousand People" was a self-narrative recorded in the studio, then Phung Khanh Linh's performance at GENfest on the evening of January 17, 2026 in Hanoi was the moment that inner world " materialized" on an outdoor stage in front of thousands of spectators.

Opening the show, Phùng Khánh Linh made a strong impression from the very first seconds. Her performance of the title track " Between Ten Thousand People" and "I'm Hurt" was elaborately staged, combining lighting, choreography, and a mature stage presence, showcasing the artist's growing confidence and stage presence.

Her performance led the audience through a range of emotions, from the introspective vulnerability of " Confiding in the Night Alone" to the explosive liberation of "Crying Block ," a song with intense alternative rock and pop-punk undertones. The emotional climax was further heightened with " I Wish Your Heart Would Be Broken ," a song that simultaneously contained anger and fragile emotion, concluding this ambiguous yet powerful chapter of feelings.

The highlight of the performance was the unexpected transformation into a playful, cheerful "CITOPIA Girl" image with songs like " Drunk Girl , " " Birds of a feather flock together ," and finally " Today I'm Sad" —the hit song that brought Phung Khanh Linh closer to the audience for the past 8 years. Her way of changing the final line to "today I'm not sad" was like a lighthearted, positive greeting to the audience.

During Phùng Khánh Linh's performance, the unexpected appearance of singer Đông Nhi brought even more surprises to the audience. The two female singers created an emotional explosion for the listeners as they harmonized in two songs, " Tết ổn rồi " and " Tết ta về" .

It's safe to say that in her first appearance at GENfest in Hanoi, Phùng Khánh Linh captivated the audience with her self-composed songs, arranged into a story that transitioned from sadness to joy and playfulness. GENFest is a popular series of events that brings together many famous artists. Each set in the concert lasts approximately 60 minutes and is meticulously scripted and staged like a mini-concert for each artist.
