According to the arrangement plan of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, general schools will remain the same, while universities and colleges will change. In particular, 41 vocational and continuing education centers will be converted into 37 vocational high schools.
Keep 2 universities and 6 colleges
According to the above proposal, the plan to reorganize public schools will keep two universities : Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University and Thu Dau Mot University. Reorganize Saigon University (merge Ba Ria - Vung Tau Pedagogical College into Saigon University).
For colleges and intermediate schools, keep 5 colleges including: Vietnam - Singapore, Vietnam - Korea Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Technology, Thu Duc Technology, Ho Chi Minh City Architecture - Construction and Semi-public College of Technology and Business Administration (due to disputes with the school's founding shareholders).
The reason for keeping it the same is because these units meet legal regulations on conditions to ensure training quality (regarding land area, school facilities, training equipment, and teaching staff).
Another reason is that it has prestige with society for the quality of training, is oriented to build a high-quality college, a regional center for vocational practice and has a leading role for vocational training institutions in the city.
Recommended fields for placement
Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposed to arrange 13 colleges and 17 secondary schools. Specifically as follows:

In which, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City proposed not to arrange 2 schools managed by enterprises , namely Saigontourist College of Tourism and Hotel Management and Suleco College.
In addition , the City People's Committee proposed to maintain 198 units . Including 170 high schools, general schools with many levels; 3 public kindergartens, 22 centers to support the development of inclusive education and specialized education schools, 1 center for technical - general education and career guidance, 2 centers with autonomy in regular spending (Ho Chi Minh City Foreign Language - Information Technology Center and Center for Information and Educational Programs) .
Particularly, 41 vocational education and continuing education centers will be converted into 37 vocational high schools (reducing 4 units, including 3 centers under the Department of Education and Training and 1 center under the Youth Volunteer Force) as shown in the table below:

Thus, if the above project is approved, after the arrangement, Ho Chi Minh City will have 256 units left (not counting 2 secondary schools managed by enterprises).
