School arrangement plan in Can Tho

Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued a plan on restructuring the organizational structure within administrative agencies, public service units (PSUs) and state-owned enterprises in the city.

This plan is built closely following the directions of the Central Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, aiming to streamline the organizational apparatus, ensure effective operation and avoid duplication of functions and tasks.

In the field of education, the proposed plan is to basically maintain the existing public high schools, middle schools, primary schools, inter-level schools, and kindergartens. Review and merge small-scale, substandard schools in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Can Tho City has a total of 1,184 public service units in the education sector. Public service units in the education sector will be streamlined, reducing the number of units and improving the quality of operations.

Merge vocational education centers (GDNN) and continuing education centers (GDTX) into vocational secondary schools equivalent to high school level under the Department of Education and Training to provide public services in inter-ward and commune areas. Accordingly, 3 GDTX centers and 27 GDTX - GDTX centers will be arranged into 14 GDTX - GDTX centers under the Department of Education and Training.

The entire city shall have no more than 3 vocational schools to train skilled workers to serve socio-economic development and attract local investment.

Carry out the arrangement of 7 schools, specifically: Merge Can Tho College into Can Tho College of Economics and Technology (transfer the Teacher Training Department of Can Tho College to Soc Trang Community College).

Merge Soc Trang Vocational College into Can Tho Vocational College.

Merge Hau Giang Community College and Can Tho College of Culture and Arts into Soc Trang Community College (receive the Teacher Training Faculty of Can Tho College).

Retain Can Tho Medical College and Southern Intermediate Pali Cultural Supplementary School.

For Can Tho University of Technology, the arrangement will be carried out according to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training.
