Bong Son Ward has established a regular practice of purchasing and reading Party newspapers.

(GLO) - After 5 years of implementing the Conclusion Notice No. 173-TB/TW, dated April 6, 2020, of the Central Party Secretariat on continuing to implement Directive No. 11-CT/TW of the Politburo (8th term), the purchase and reading of Party newspapers and magazines in Bong Son ward has been carried out seriously and systematically.

In implementing Directive No. 11-CT/TW and Document No. 01 of the Provincial Party Committee on continuing to subscribe to Party newspapers and magazines, the Bong Son Ward Party Committee promptly issued numerous guiding documents and organized the synchronized and serious implementation throughout the entire Party organization.

According to Nguyen Van Lai, Head of the Party Building Committee and Director of the Political Center of Bong Son Ward: During the implementation process, the unit proactively advised, guided, and monitored to ensure that the implementation was in accordance with the directives of the higher authorities. “The Ward Party Committee assigned Party Committee members to directly supervise and encourage each area, combining this with propaganda to raise awareness of the role and significance of the Party newspaper in political and ideological work. As a result, the number of Party organizations, cadres, and Party members interested in and actively participating in purchasing and reading the Party newspaper is increasing,” Mr. Lai emphasized.

Subscribing to and consistently reading Party newspapers and magazines is of paramount importance, serving as a primary source of information that helps cadres and Party members stay informed about the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, as well as current events at the national and local levels.

At the Binh Chuong neighborhood Party branch, the awareness of cadres and Party members in the neighborhood regarding reading Party newspapers and magazines is increasingly improving, gradually becoming a regular practice in Party branch activities.

According to Nguyen Van Nhat, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of Binh Chuong neighborhood, with the decisive involvement of the Ward Party Committee and the financial support from the Party for subscribing to newspapers and magazines, the neighborhood Party branches have more favorable conditions to implement their activities. "This is not only material support but also clearly demonstrates the leadership and guidance role of the Party committee in strengthening political and ideological work, contributing to improving the quality of Party branch activities and the effectiveness of Party building at the grassroots level," Mr. Nhat expressed.

To date, all 43/43 subordinate Party organizations with 1,689 Party members, including 21 neighborhood Party branches in Bong Son ward, have effectively implemented Directive No. 11-CT/TW of the Politburo . The ward Party Committee has also proactively allocated over 60 million VND to subscribe to Party newspapers for subordinate organizations and Party branches. Specifically, from July 1st to the present, the ward Party Committee has provided financial support for newspaper purchases totaling over 8 million VND.

Besides the achievements, the Party Committee of Bong Son Ward also frankly acknowledges some difficulties in implementing Directive No. 11-CT/TW. These include limited operating funds for some Party organizations; the increasing popularity of online newspapers; and the incomplete understanding among some cadres and Party members regarding the importance of purchasing and reading Party newspapers.

According to Huynh Thi Bich Trang, Secretary of the Party Cell of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward, the explosion of the internet, along with the strong development of online newspapers and social media, has somewhat affected the subscription and reading of print newspapers. In addition, limited funding is also a reason why the subscription to the required number and variety of Party newspapers and magazines, as stipulated by regulations, has not been guaranteed.

To continue implementing effective measures in the future, Nguyen Van Lai, Head of the Party Building Committee of Bong Son Ward, added: The Ward Party Committee will continue to strengthen leadership and guidance, assigning responsibility to the heads of Party organizations; and proactively allocate and provide appropriate financial support to disadvantaged units. Along with that, it will promote propaganda work and raise awareness of the role of the Party newspaper in Party branch activities and Party building work.

"We also hope that the Party's newspapers and magazines will continue to innovate the form and content of their propaganda in a more lively, grassroots-oriented, diverse, and rich manner. This will better meet information needs, attract readers, and contribute to improving the effectiveness of ideological work in the new situation," Mr. Lai proposed.
