Hong Chau Ward: A warm Tet holiday for the poor and families receiving social welfare benefits.

Every Lunar New Year, the Party Committee, government, and socio-political organizations of Hong Chau ward pay close attention to caring for the poor and families entitled to preferential policies during the holiday season. Through these practical actions, many poor households and families entitled to preferential policies receive timely support, contributing to improving their lives and effectively implementing social welfare policies in the locality.

To ensure adequate and timely support, and to effectively implement social welfare work and care for the lives of war veterans, policy beneficiary families, and vulnerable groups, starting from November 2025, the ward has conducted a review and compiled a list of cases needing support; intensified the dissemination of information on the State's policies and regulations regarding Tet (Lunar New Year) care for the poor and policy beneficiary families; and integrated sustainable poverty reduction and social protection activities through associations and organizations, thereby effectively mobilizing social resources and promptly supporting people to improve their lives and achieve stability.

In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, along with delivering gifts from the President , the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to the right recipients, the ward leaders organized delegations to visit, encourage, and present gifts to vulnerable people and policy beneficiary families in the ward. According to the plan for visiting, giving gifts, and providing support during this year's Tet holiday, the ward has over 115 gift packages allocated from the ward budget, the Gratitude Fund, and the Fund for the Poor to families of war heroes, poor households, near-poor households, and children with particularly difficult circumstances. At the same time, the ward actively mobilized social resources, raising approximately 250 additional gift packages to ensure a thoughtful Tet celebration for policy beneficiary families and people facing many difficulties.

Meaningful gifts were handed directly to the people, bringing them joy and warmth during the first days of spring. Ms. Dinh Thi Lang, from residential group 3, emotionally shared: "Every year during Tet, the local government and various organizations come to visit and give gifts, and I am very happy. The gifts not only help me have better conditions to celebrate Tet but also contain the affection of everyone and are a great source of encouragement and comfort, bringing a warm atmosphere to my family."

Working together with the local government, the Women's Union of Hong Chau ward has actively mobilized resources and implemented many activities to visit and give gifts to its members. Through the joint efforts of philanthropists, the Union recently presented 30 gifts to women and children in difficult circumstances, contributing to encouraging their spirits, sharing, and helping families celebrate the traditional Tet holiday in a warm and meaningful atmosphere. In particular, through the connection of the Women's Union of Hong Chau ward, Ms. Do Thi Ha Chung, a police officer of Hong Chau ward, has sponsored two underprivileged children in the locality. This act of kindness not only provides practical support but also spreads a spirit of love, bringing more joy and warmth to the children as the new spring approaches. Ms. Chung said: "When I met the children in person, I understood even more the disadvantages and hardships they are experiencing." I hope that this timely care and support will help the children feel loved, so that they can have more joy celebrating Tet and more motivation to strive in life.

Furthermore, most poor and near-poor households in the ward have full access to basic social services such as preferential loans, livelihood support, and assistance in building and repairing houses. This helps these households gradually develop their economy , stabilize their lives, and improve their quality of life. Not only are the government's support programs fully and promptly implemented, but during holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and major anniversaries throughout the year, the local Party committee and government always show thoughtful care with practical and meaningful gifts. This timely attention has contributed to boosting morale and providing motivation for households to improve their lives. At the same time, it clearly demonstrates the role and responsibility of the local government in ensuring social security in the ward.

Comrade Lam Ba Quyet, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of the ward, said: The ward has determined that the work of visiting and giving gifts to policy beneficiary families and poor households in the area must be carried out promptly, without omission, ensuring transparency and practicality. This contributes to strengthening the people's trust, promoting solidarity and mutual support in the community, so that everyone can celebrate Tet in a warm and meaningful atmosphere.
