A National Assembly delegation led by Vice Chairman Le Minh Hoan worked in Lai Chau province on preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. Receiving and working with the delegation were the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Chairman of the Lai Chau Provincial Election Committee, Ha Quang Trung, along with leaders of the Fatherland Front, various departments and agencies, and Tan Phong ward.

Reporting at the meeting, the Tan Phong Ward Election Committee stated that it had seriously implemented the directives and regulations of the Central Government and the Election Law. To date, the election organization system has been fully established in accordance with the law; professional training has been implemented promptly; the process has been completed correctly, ensuring the structure, composition, and proportion of women and ethnic minorities. Propaganda, application processing, and security and order maintenance have been carried out synchronously, with no complaints or denunciations arising.

The Tan Phong Ward Election Committee has 17 members; 3 subcommittees and support teams; and 7 election boards with a total of 82 members. Training and professional guidance on election procedures were implemented promptly, with 240 participants attending online training conferences at the central and provincial levels. The first consultation process was conducted in the correct order, unanimously nominating 41 candidates for the Ward People's Council, ensuring the structure and composition as prescribed, with 36.6% being women, 14.63% non-Party members, and 40.9% being ethnic minorities compared to the number of expected elected representatives.

During the meeting, discussions focused on clarifying the handling of petitions and complaints, disseminating information about the Election Law under the conditions of a two-tiered local government system, the impact of socio-economic development on voters' sentiments, and requesting that localities clearly identify difficulties and limitations in order to find appropriate solutions.

In his response, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Quang Trung stated that Lai Chau province recognizes that many areas are remote and have scattered populations. Based on this, members of the Provincial Election Committee and leaders of departments and agencies have been assigned to directly oversee these communes, closely monitoring the situation at the grassroots level and conducting regular inspections to promptly identify and resolve emerging issues, thereby fostering consensus among the people…

Furthermore, implementing a two-tiered local government system, transportation, and communication are among the difficulties faced by the province; the lack of experience among officials from the provincial, district, and commune levels are limitations that the Provincial Election Committee must address. The leaders of Lai Chau province hope that, along with the province's efforts, the monitoring delegation and central ministries and agencies will support the province in ensuring the successful conduct of the 16th National Assembly elections and the elections for People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

Concluding the working session, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan highly appreciated the proactive and serious approach of Lai Chau province; he requested that the province continue to adhere closely to the law, strengthen diverse forms of propaganda to the grassroots, learn from the experience of previous elections, and build a specific roadmap from now until the election day on March 15th, ensuring that the election is democratic, lawful, safe, and successful.
