Yen Hoa Ward: Nearly 500 athletes participate in the sports competition celebrating the Party and the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.

Amidst the vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere of the early days of the new year, as the whole country is competing to achieve accomplishments to welcome the 14th National Congress of the Party and commemorate the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2026), on January 23, the sports competition celebrating the Party and the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 in Yen Hoa ward (Hanoi) took place with the participation of nearly 500 athletes.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Yen Hoa Ward People's Committee, stated that since Yen Hoa Ward officially began operating under the two-tiered local government model, the mass sports movement in the ward has continued to be maintained and developed, attracting a large number of people to participate. Recognizing the importance of sports development in the area, the Ward Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee have always considered this a crucial task to improve the health and spiritual well-being of the people. The Ward People's Committee has invested in installing sports training equipment at playgrounds, cultural centers, and neighborhood meeting halls; and renovated and repaired sports fields so that people in the ward have places to play, exercise, and improve their health and spirits.

In 2025, the People's Committee of Yen Hoa Ward successfully organized the 1st Yen Hoa Ward Sports Festival with 51 registered units and 1,063 athletes participating in 8 events such as: football, pickleball, tug-of-war, folk dance, chess… At the 11th Hanoi Sports Festival, the Yen Hoa Ward team excellently won 59 medals, including 16 Gold Medals (GMs), 11 Silver Medals (SMs), and 32 Bronze Medals (SMs) in many sports such as: volleyball, karate, basketball, sports dance, chess, Chinese chess, taekwondo, traditional martial arts, tug-of-war, table tennis…

The sports competition celebrating the Party and the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 in Yen Hoa Ward brought together nearly 500 athletes from 37 agencies, units, schools, residential groups, and clubs to compete in various age categories. The athletes competed in three sports: volleyball, pickleball, and badminton. This was not only a platform for athletes to interact and exchange experiences but also an opportunity to further promote the "National Movement for Physical Training Following the Example of the Great President Ho Chi Minh." Through this tournament, Yen Hoa Ward hopes to create a vibrant competitive atmosphere and a determination to successfully implement the ward's socio-economic tasks in 2026.
