In the early hours of May 14th, Man City secured a 3-0 victory against Crystal Palace in a rescheduled match from round 31.
Breathtaking chase
Manager Pep Guardiola surprisingly benched several key players, including Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki, and Jeremy Doku, when hosting Crystal Palace. The Spanish strategist made six changes to the starting lineup, aiming to conserve energy for the FA Cup final against Chelsea.
Despite fielding a makeshift team, their resilience was evident thanks to the brilliant performance of Phil Foden. The English midfielder created a turning point in the match with a skillful backheel, setting up Antoine Semenyo in a one-on-one situation before the striker beat goalkeeper Dean Henderson to open the scoring.
Shortly after, Foden once again set up Omar Marmoush to double the lead. Savinho easily sealed the 3-0 victory for Man City at the end of the match.
After the match, Phil Foden shared his determination: "We've seen a lot of crazy scenarios happen on the final day of the season. I've been through moments where everything seemed to be against me. Right now, the whole team just needs to keep going, give our best and do our part."
This comfortable victory helps Pep Guardiola's team narrow the gap with league leaders Arsenal to just two points with two rounds remaining in the tournament.

The advantage is in the hands of the "Gunners".
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal have their fate in their own hands and a much easier schedule than their chasing rivals. The Emirates Stadium side are on a run of three consecutive wins and need six more points in the final two rounds to officially clinch the title, regardless of Manchester City's efforts.
In the early hours of May 19th, Arsenal will host Burnley at home. This is considered an easy target for the London team because Burnley have already been relegated and are on an 11-match winless streak. A goalfest at Emirates Stadium would not only secure Arsenal three points but also significantly improve their goal difference – a factor that could determine the entire season if any unforeseen circumstances occur.
In the final matchday on May 24th, Arsenal will travel to face Crystal Palace. Selhurst Park is usually a wildcard, but at the moment, Oliver Glasner's team will likely be focusing all their efforts on the Conference League final against Rayo Vallecano a few days later. Palace's squad rotation presents a good opportunity for Arteta's side.
Conversely, Man City will face a much more difficult schedule. Having to divide their energy between the FA Cup final against Chelsea will drain a significant amount of Pep Guardiola's players. Just three days after the clash at Wembley, they must travel to Bournemouth (May 29). The home team is still fighting for a place in next season's European competition.
In the final round (24-5), the challenge posed by Aston Villa at the Etihad will put Haaland and his teammates through a tough time. Unai Emery's team is still desperate to maintain their position in the Champions League qualification group.
The Premier League is always famous for its "crazy" last-minute scenarios. Arsenal have the best chance of winning the title in over two decades, but just one slip-up and they will hand the championship to Man City. The final two rounds of matches will undoubtedly provide football fans worldwide with the most dramatic spectacle yet.
