During the first week of November, Prudential and Prudence Foundation, together with CRC, conducted field surveys and infrastructure renovations at many schools and residential areas, including upgrading toilets, libraries, playgrounds, fences, and street lighting systems. The total value of support was up to 84,000 USD (equivalent to 2.1 billion VND), directly benefiting 1,862 people, including 1,060 students and 802 households.
The highlight of the program was the event “Loving Meal and Cultural Exchange” taking place on November 6 at Suoi Giang Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, gathering more than 900 students, teachers and many Prudential volunteers from 14 markets across Asia, including Vietnam.
In addition, within the framework of the program, international volunteers and Prudential Vietnam team also provided local students with practical information including financial education and instructions on proper personal hygiene.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Kevin Kwon – General Director of Prudential Vietnam shared: “I am very happy to be here. This is not only about building a library, but also about giving hope to the next generation – those who will become the factors that change Vietnam.
Over the past 26 years, we have contributed and invested millions of dollars to build a strong community. At the same time, we will continue to do meaningful work to affirm our commitment to developing a strong, humane society, as well as Prudential Vietnam's dedication to accompanying people and communities across this country."
Launched in 2009, PRU Volunteering is an initiative of the Prudence Foundation. Each year, the program is held in a different country, bringing together dozens of volunteers from Prudential employees in many markets to contribute to the community through disaster recovery projects and towards sustainable development.
This time the destination is Van Chan commune, Lao Cai province – an area heavily affected by natural disasters, with many infrastructure works and schools destroyed. Most of the students here are ethnic minorities, with few opportunities to access education and cultural exchange.
