BAC NINH - These days, a series of rich and attractive activities in response to Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day 2026 are attracting a large number of readers, contributing to fostering a love of books.

Mr. Nguyen Dac Hong, Director of Bac Ninh Library No. 1, affirmed: Organizing book and newspaper exhibitions in conjunction with major events such as the UNESCO Certificate awarding ceremony and the "Returning to the Heritage Region of Bac Ninh - 2026" Festival aims to "bring" readers closer to heritage. Through this, it raises community awareness in preserving and promoting cultural values, while simultaneously promoting the image of Bac Ninh as a province rich in cultural traditions and development.

Each page of the book revealed glimpses of history, showcasing the scholarly tradition, the spirit of learning, and the unique cultural values ​​that have shaped Bac Ninh's identity. Stopping before the exhibition of documents on intangible cultural heritage, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (Bac Giang ward) shared: “I’ve heard Quan Ho folk songs and known about Dong Ho paintings, but after seeing the documents and research books here, I understand the value of these heritages more deeply, and I love and am proud of my homeland even more.”

This year, Bac Ninh is implementing many rich and practical activities to celebrate Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day, linking the development of reading culture with promoting the image of the homeland. Besides the Reading Culture Ambassador competition, many activities such as storytelling and applying ideas from books, drawing based on books, workshops, seminars, thematic talks, online reading, artistic book arrangement, and book introductions are taking place enthusiastically to honor the value of books.

The 2026 Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in the province is associated with the message: "Spreading reading culture - Preserving the Kinh Bac identity, developing the people of Bac Ninh." Accordingly, book exhibitions, presentations, storytelling sessions, etc., focused on introducing publications and documents about Kinh Bac culture, famous figures, and cultural heritage of Bac Ninh, contributing to promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of the locality.

On this occasion, schools organize reading festivals, setting up booths to display and introduce books and typical activities and models for developing a reading culture. During the festival, students enthusiastically display art books, arrange book models according to themes, read books in the schoolyard and library, and interact with teachers and librarians, answering questions related to books and stories, and sharing their feelings about the characters…

Distinguished teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Principal of Cao Thuong Primary School, believes that this activity will nurture a passion for reading, turning books into close friends for each student. The school encourages students to maintain the habit of reading, contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of the Kinh Bac region.

This year's activities were also impressive with the "Painting Based on Books" competition, which attracted a large number of elementary and middle school students. After reading books, the children became "storytellers through color," expressing their love for their homeland, country, family, and teachers through each brushstroke.

Integrating reading culture with the promotion of the province's heritage, people, and development potential has created a positive effect, helping to bring the image of Bac Ninh closer to friends both domestically and internationally. This, in turn, helps to foster confidence and inspire aspirations for building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland in every citizen, especially the younger generation.

According to Mr. Khong Duc Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, from exhibition spaces to experiential activities, the 2026 Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in Bac Ninh has created a vibrant cultural "flow." There, books not only preserve knowledge but also spread values, connecting the past with the present, tradition with modernity, becoming an important foundation for the comprehensive development of Bac Ninh people, who are both knowledgeable and culturally rich. Through this series of activities, Bac Ninh hopes to continue to ignite a passion for reading, build a learning society, and promote the image of the Kinh Bac region, rich in cultural traditions, dynamic, and creative.
