Ly Son garlic (Quang Ngai) has a flavor that cannot be found anywhere else, but what makes its value more special is the people - the descendants of the heroic Hoang Sa soldiers, the brave fishermen who today have turned garlic fields into a unique and sustainable agricultural cultural brand.

Quang Ngai connects OCOP products with rural tourism services
Mr. Le Van Chau, who has spent 40 years growing garlic in An Vinh, Ly Son special zone, shared: "Our people have high expectations for the story "Ly Son Garlic - Warmth of Volcano Island", hoping it will help Ly Son garlic get closer to tourists, help more people understand the value of garlic, thereby increasing the selling price and stabilizing output for farmers".

“Garlic is not only a crop that provides livelihood but also the flesh and blood of the islanders. Each sao of garlic is a lot of effort and sweat. If in the future the local government can build a story about “Ly Son Garlic - Warmth of Volcano Island” , we will feel more proud and confident when introducing the value of garlic to tourists”, Mr. Chau expressed.

Ms. Dang Thi Khoe, a tour guide in Ly Son, said that in the past, when taking tourists to visit Ly Son, especially when experiencing garlic fields, most of the stories revolved around how to plant and harvest, but each person told a different story. Now it is different, when there is this story, people can tell about the volcanic island, about the descendants of the Hoang Sa soldiers growing garlic, about the culture and history in each row of land. This makes tourists very excited.

“We have a story to tell, this is an advantage to develop community tourism associated with Ly Son garlic. I believe tourists will understand that Ly Son garlic is not only an agricultural product but also a typical product with cultural value of the island,” Ms. Khoe shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem Kieu, Director of SUNGCO Company, the unit that built the story, said that building the Ly Son garlic story aims to promote the value of specialties, traditional crafts, culture and tourism of Ly Son, thereby affirming that the product quality has been raised through OCOP standards.
The story of Ly Son garlic will also contribute to increasing consumer access, raising community awareness of the meaning and importance of OCOP labeling for garlic ; at the same time promoting rural tourism in Ly Son special economic zone associated with the story of OCOP garlic products...

This is a project invested by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province and implemented in Ly Son in 2025. This story will use data through QR codes to widely disseminate in the tourism - transportation system, tourist attractions, homestays, hotels, garlic production and trading establishments, schools and residential communities.
Garlic has long been the “white gold” of Ly Son special zone. This crop is not only closely linked to the livelihood of the people but is also a famous specialty of the whole country.
Building the story "Ly Son Garlic - Warmth of Volcano Island " is not only to promote OCOP products, but also to raise public awareness, spread cultural and historical values, preserve traditional farming methods, and develop sustainable livelihoods from agriculture and tourism for people in Ly Son special economic zone.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ly Son Special Economic Zone Nguyen Dao emphasized: "This is an important solution to consolidate and promote the sustainable development of the Ly Son garlic brand, helping people, especially the young generation, to better understand the value of Ly Son garlic...".
“ Ly Son Garlic - Warmth of Volcanic Island” not only a slogan, but also the identity, the soul of the outpost island - where people still preserve sovereignty every day and continue writing the cultural story on the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
