The match started quite slowly, with the home team, Hanoi Police, not in a hurry to speed things up. However, they controlled the entire game, putting pressure on their opponents and gradually disorienting them.
Thanks to this, in the 24th minute, Hanoi Police opened the scoring despite not having created many dangerous attacks beforehand. The Tampines Rovers players left a large gap in front of the penalty area for Leo Artur to unleash a powerful long-range shot. Goalkeeper Buhari stretched to make the save, but the ball went straight to Quang Hai, and the striker didn't miss the opportunity to score on the rebound.
Just three minutes later, the player wearing number 19 scored his second goal. This time, the opposing player lost the ball in a dangerous area. Quang Hai received the ball, beat a defender, and calmly slotted the ball into the net. After that, Hanoi Police continued their dominance as Tampines Rovers quickly collapsed. China extended the home team's lead to 3-0 after a scramble. Leo Artur unleashed another long-range shot that goalkeeper Buhari couldn't make a good save. Although it took them two more attempts, China still managed to put the ball into the net.
Other foreign players like Alan and Leo Artur also had several opportunities but failed to capitalize. At the beginning of the second half, Hanoi Police unexpectedly slowed down. This gave Tampines Rovers more space to exploit. However, their players lacked the technical skill and stamina to convert these opportunities.
As time went on, the momentum shifted in favor of Hanoi Police. They even had numerous opportunities to extend their lead. However, it wasn't until the 90+2 minute that Dinh Bac capitalized on a chance to seal the 4-0 victory. This win puts Hanoi Police one step closer to the quarterfinals, although they will play the return leg away at Tampines Rovers.
