Not yet caught up with the top
Tourism is a bright spot in the socio -economic picture of our country in the first half of 2024. Statistics show that in the first 6 months of 2024, Vietnam welcomed more than 8.8 million international visitors (up 58.4% over the same period in 2023) and up 4.1% over the same period in 2019. The tourism industry also served about 66.5 million domestic tourists. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at about 436.5 trillion VND.
Data reported by local tourism management agencies shows that 10 provinces and cities had tourism revenue exceeding 10 trillion VND in the first 6 months of this year.

It is not surprising that the two largest tourist centers in the country, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, are still leading with revenue reaching VND92.6 trillion and VND55.4 trillion respectively, far surpassing the remaining localities.
The remaining provinces and cities on the list are: Khanh Hoa, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Da Nang, Binh Dinh, Kien Giang, Binh Thuan. Interestingly, all 8 of these localities are located in coastal areas and strongly develop marine tourism products.
According to statistics, in the first half of 2024, Quang Nam welcomed 4.6 million visitors and tourists. Tourism revenue reached 3,870 billion VND. Social income from tourism reached more than 9,000 billion VND.
Most of the localities in the top group have good growth compared to the same period in 2023, so although Quang Nam tourism revenue also has a growth rate of about 11%, it still cannot catch up with this group.
Revenue is not commensurate with the number of customers
Another interesting figure is the number of international visitors visiting and staying in Quang Nam in the first 6 months of this year, reaching about 3.1 million. This figure is higher than most of the provinces and cities in the top group of our country in terms of tourism revenue, but the spending is not commensurate.
The leader of Hoi An City People's Committee informed that recently, although the number of international visitors to Hoi An has been growing well, the average spending of international visitors has shown signs of a significant decrease compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, according to travel agencies, a significant number of both international and domestic tourists come to Quang Nam, specifically Hoi An, but do not stay in the locality, making the revenue generated from this group of visitors quite modest.

In the second half of this year, Quang Nam is actively preparing for a low-season tourism stimulus program (from September to November) with the program "Quang Nam Golden Season", hoping to improve the locality's ability to welcome visitors during this period, to contribute to increasing revenue for the tourism industry.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in recent times, the tourism industry has implemented many solutions to promote and stimulate demand to attract both international and domestic tourist markets with the desire to create high tourism revenue. In addition to statistics on net tourism revenue, there is a special feature that Quang Nam tourism contributes a lot to creating social income, bringing great benefits to the community and society.
