Quang Ngai: Building a temporary bamboo bridge to replace the broken Nuoc Bao bridge

On the afternoon of November 17, Mr. Tran Van Luat, Secretary of the Party Committee of Son Ha commune (Quang Ngai province) said that local forces and people proactively built a temporary bamboo bridge to cross the Nuoc Bao bridge area after this structure was broken due to floods.

Mr. Tran Van Luat added: "The locality has inspected the scene and plans to bring in steel tomorrow (November 18) to build a temporary steel girder bridge to ensure safe passage for vehicles. Today, the local force only built a temporary bamboo bridge for people to walk."

Weaving bamboo and building temporary bridges

Although temporary repairs may allow people to walk across the bridge, local authorities still recommend that people limit crossing the bridge to ensure safety.

On the morning of November 17, heavy rain and floods caused a 3-meter-long section of Nuoc Bao bridge to break; the bridge abutment and part of the bridge body were swept away by water. Traffic through the area was completely cut off, isolating 288 households with 1,212 people in the two villages of Mang Na and Nuoc Nao.
