Previously, high tides due to the impact of storm No. 13 caused erosion of the coastline of Thanh Thuy village, Van Tuong commune, causing a 22kV underground cable section about 60m long to be exposed on the sand. At the position of column 86 XT 470/DQU, large waves penetrated deep into the shore, causing the cable protection section to be washed away and fall.

At the scene, the warning pole was broken, some sections of cable protection pipes were eroded, exposing the outside wires.

Van Tuong commune authorities coordinated with the electricity sector to string wires, put up warning signs and prevent people and vehicles from entering the area where the 22kV underground cable was exposed; at the same time, they increased inspection and strictly handled acts of violating the safety corridor such as anchoring boats, building huts, and exploiting seafood within a radius of 200m.

The locality recommends that functional sectors and management units soon have technical solutions to overcome landslides, protect cable lines, ensure safety and maintain power supply for Ly Son special economic zone.
