On November 30th, Mr. Nguyen Van Danh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Dam commune (Quang Ngai province), confirmed that a traffic accident had occurred in the commune, injuring 13 children who were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Fortunately, there were no fatalities.

Previously, on November 29th, Mr. HVV (Ho Van Vu, born in 1990, residing in Truong Giang village, Ca Dam commune, Quang Ngai province) drove a tractor to the hillside area within the farmland of Mr. Ho Xuan Vu, residing in group 4, Nien village, Ca Dam commune, to wait for the harvested acacia wood to be transported for sale.

While waiting, about 13 children (aged 8-12), all residing in Nien village, Ca Dam commune, climbed onto the truck bed and hood to play. Due to the steep hillside terrain, slippery road surface (covered in bark and acacia leaves), and muddy soil from prolonged waterlogging, the farm vehicle unexpectedly slipped and plunged straight into the river ravine.

Upon realizing what was happening, the HVV driver rushed after the vehicle to try and resolve the situation, but it was too late. As a result, Mr. V. and the children suffered multiple injuries.

According to Nguyen Van Danh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Dam commune, upon receiving the report, he and several officials went directly to the scene to coordinate with the people in bringing the victims to the commune's health station for first aid, and then transferring them to Quang Ngai Provincial General Hospital. Thanks to the timely consultation and treatment plan by the hospital's medical team, most of the children are now basically stable in terms of health and psychology. Three cases diagnosed with traumatic brain injury have been transferred to Da Nang for further treatment at the request of their families and the local community; their health is improving well.

“This serves as a wake-up call for parents and guardians regarding the management of their children. Besides visiting and encouraging them, local authorities are also actively disseminating information, mobilizing support, and advising people to be more observant and cautious during the exploitation of agricultural and forestry products, and to absolutely prevent children from getting near transport vehicles to avoid unfortunate accidents,” Mr. Danh said.
