Creating a linked product between the two World Heritage sites.
As one of the leading tourism centers in the country, Quang Ninh always proactively implements stimulus programs, promotes and develops new products. In particular, building a chain of tourism products linking the two World Heritage sites of Ha Long Bay (a World Natural Heritage site) and Yen Tu Scenic Area (a World Heritage site currently under consideration for UNESCO recognition) is identified as one of the important directions to elevate the province's tourism brand.
The Yen Tu historical and scenic site has recently been recognized as a World Cultural Heritage site.
With a distance of only 40 km, it's easy for tourists to travel, opening up opportunities to create an experiential journey combining the magnificent natural landscapes of the islands and the unique cultural and spiritual atmosphere of the sacred Yen Tu mountain. To effectively capitalize on this advantage, Tung Lam Development Joint Stock Company has developed a 3-day, 2-night resort package, combining Legacy Yen Tu Resort and Paradise Vietnam cruise ship.
This itinerary allows visitors to fully experience the beauty of two heritage sites: from the geological sediments and thousands of limestone islands in Ha Long Bay to the unique cultural and historical value associated with the Truc Lam Zen sect at Yen Tu. It is also considered a product suitable for the trend of high-end resort tourism, emphasizing personalization and in-depth experiences of local culture.
Mr. Dao Tung, Deputy Director of Tung Lam Development Joint Stock Company, said that the company is striving to perfect products connecting the two destinations. "We focus on building experiences that explore nature, learn about culture and history, and customize products for each customer group, especially the luxury segment. At the same time, the company is continuously working with domestic and international travel companies to bring this product to a wider audience."
Simultaneously, many businesses are proactively developing unique itineraries in Ha Long Bay to connect the province's marine tourism ecosystem. A prime example is the "Heritage Journey" offered by the Grand Pioneers cruise ship (Viet Thuan Transport Co., Ltd.), the first product connecting Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. This journey not only enhances the experience but also contributes to spreading the scenic value of Bai Tu Long Bay, Bai Tu Long National Park, and the fishing culture of Quang Ninh province; while simultaneously reducing the burden on the core heritage area of Ha Long Bay.
Expanding tourism opportunities
Quang Ninh currently has a dynamic network of tourism businesses that are proactively collaborating to develop inter-regional product packages and create a comprehensive service supply chain. This linkage helps improve service quality, reduce costs, and create more attractive product packages for tourists.
The Yen Tu historical and scenic site has recently been recognized as a World Cultural Heritage site.
Not only focusing on intra-provincial linkages, Quang Ninh also actively cooperates with localities in the region. According to Mr. Nguyen Lam Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province has connected tourism businesses in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh to develop inter-regional products such as beach and island tourism, spiritual tourism, cultural and historical tourism, and agricultural tourism.
In addition, the province is also involved in developing products along strategic tourism corridors such as: the Yunnan (China) – Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh corridor; the route connecting heritage sites: Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh – Ninh Binh; connecting the southern market via Cat Bi and Van Don airports; expanding international markets: Southeast Asia, South Korea, Japan…
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will also act as a liaison to connect businesses participating in international tourism fairs, domestic tourism festivals, and promotional programs in localities with potential flight connections to Van Don, such as Da Nang and Phu Quoc, as well as key international markets.
Promoting product linkages, especially between Ha Long Bay and Yen Tu, is creating a new value chain for Quang Ninh tourism. When the two heritage sites are systematically connected, tourists have the opportunity to experience both nature and culture more fully; while the locality can improve service quality, extend the length of stay, and increase competitiveness on the regional tourism map. This is considered a strategic direction, contributing to building Quang Ninh into a diverse, unique, and sustainable destination in the coming years.
