Quang Ninh increases enrollment quota for public high schools.

The 2026-2027 10th grade entrance exam in Quang Ninh has several notable new features, such as an increase in public school enrollment quotas, expanded enrollment based on new geographical boundaries, and increased online registration.

On the afternoon of May 12th, at a press conference, leaders of the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Education and Training announced that Quang Ninh will increase the enrollment quota for the 10th grade entrance exam in the 2026-2027 school year.

Accordingly, in the 2025-2026 school year, Quang Ninh will have 24,611 ninth-grade students, an increase of 2,713 compared to the previous school year, leading to a significant increase in pressure on enrollment into tenth grade.

To meet educational needs, the province plans to add 30 classes and 1,351 enrollment slots for high schools in the 2026-2027 school year. Of these, public schools will see a significant increase of 24 classes, corresponding to 1,069 students, while private schools will add 6 classes with 282 new enrollment slots.

According to the plan of the Quang Ninh Department of Education and Training, this year approximately 50.3% of junior high school graduates will have the opportunity to attend public high schools. Meanwhile, private schools will continue to recruit students based on academic transcripts, helping to reduce competition and provide more educational options for students.

This year's entrance exam for non-specialized high schools will take place over two days, June 23rd and 24th, with three subjects: Vietnamese Literature, Foreign Language, and Mathematics. Specifically, on the morning of June 23rd, candidates will take the Vietnamese Literature exam, in the afternoon the Foreign Language exam, and on the morning of June 24th the Mathematics exam.

For Ha Long Specialized High School, candidates will take the exams from June 23rd to 25th. After the general subjects, students will continue with the specialized subject exams on the afternoon of June 24th and the morning of June 25th, with 150 minutes allotted for each subject.

According to the Quang Ninh Department of Education and Training, the exam results and projected cut-off scores will be announced no later than July 10th; the results of the review process and the official cut-off scores will be announced before July 17th.

To facilitate the exam, the Quang Ninh education sector plans to establish 32 examination boards with approximately 735 examination rooms, mobilizing around 2,500 officials, teachers, staff, and other coordinating forces to participate in organizing the exam.

A notable aspect of this year's enrollment season is that the enrollment areas will be implemented according to the new administrative unit model following the reorganization of communes, wards, and special zones. At the same time, the education sector continues to expand the scope of enrollment across regions to create more opportunities for students to choose suitable schools.

Regarding mountainous areas and ethnic minority regions, the Quang Ninh Department of Education and Training stated that the allocation of enrollment quotas will still prioritize fairness and not be lower than other areas, in order to create opportunities for students in disadvantaged regions to access education.
