Quang Tri: Elevating the special national relic of Hang Tam Co

On the morning of November 14, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province held the inauguration ceremony of the project to restore the special national relic Hang Tam Co (20 Quyet Thang Street, Thuong Trach Commune).

Attending the ceremony were Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang; leaders of Thanh Hoa province; leaders of Quang Tri province; relatives of the 13 martyrs who died in the bombing on November 14, 1972, along with former youth volunteers, veterans and local people. Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, also attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province Tran Phong emphasized that during the period of 1966 - 1973, Route 20 Quyet Thang was one of the key targets of fierce attacks by the US imperialist air force.

Notably, exactly 53 years ago, on November 14, 1972, here 8 youth volunteers and 5 artillery soldiers heroically sacrificed their lives while on duty.

In 2013, Hang Tam Co was ranked as a special national monument by the Prime Minister - a place that marks the mettle, indomitable will, bravery, intelligence, creativity and selfless working spirit of the forces on duty on this strategic route.

According to Mr. Tran Phong, the project to restore the special national relic Hang Tam Co with items such as: establishing a common grave for 13 martyrs at the cave entrance, renovating the landscape of the relic site... has contributed to raising the level of the relic.

The project was elaborately and solemnly carried out in harmony with the natural landscape of Truong Son mountains and forests. This place is not only a special historical relic, but also a red address, a sacred destination in the journey of gratitude and education of patriotic traditions of the people of Quang Tri province in particular and the whole country in general.

“The implementation and inauguration of the project to restore the special national relic of Hang Tam Co is an activity to express the deep respect and gratitude of the Party Committee, government, people of Quang Tri province and of organizations and individuals inside and outside the province to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland; thereby educating the revolutionary tradition for the younger generation and preserving and promoting the historical value of the ranked relics in the area”, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province emphasized.

At the ceremony, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, presented many gifts to the relatives of the 13 martyrs who died in the bombing on November 14, 1972.

Previously, delegates, relatives of martyrs, and local people offered flowers and incense to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives at the special national relic of Hang Tam Co.

Before the heroic martyrs, the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Tri province vow to engrave, preserve and promote the value of the relic so that this place becomes an endless source of inspiration, nurturing patriotism, fostering the desire for development for heroic Quang Tri as the most practical gratitude to those who have fallen./.
