Quang Tri will complete two regional connecting routes in December.

These are important routes that people have been waiting for, but both projects have been delayed for many years. After much effort, these two routes will "reach the finish line" in December 2025.

The extended Hung Vuong Road, 2.1 km long, connects Nam Dong Ha ward with Provincial Road 579, passing through Ai Tu commune and then to National Highway 1A, Trieu Phong commune. This is a regional connecting road that people have been waiting for for many years. Specifically, the extended Hung Vuong Road connects with the existing Hung Vuong Road, parallel to National Highway 1A, Nam Dong Ha ward and Ai Tu and Trieu Phong communes. When the extended Hung Vuong Road is completed, many vehicle owners choose to take this route to avoid National Highway 1A, passing through Ai Tu commune, where the Quang Tri BOT Toll Station is located. The extended Hung Vuong Road also connects directly with National Highway 9D and National Highway 9, connecting to Lao Bao International Border Gate.

The Hung Vuong extended road project is nearly 4.2 km long; of which the main route is 2.1 km and the branch route is 2.1 km. The project has a total investment of 93 billion VND, started in November 2021 and is expected to be completed after 2 years of construction. However, the project has been sluggish in construction, even having to temporarily stop at times, so the progress is behind schedule. After many efforts by the investor, this road has basically completed the main items.

According to records on December 2, the extended Hung Vuong road has basically completed the asphalt paving. Some other items such as sidewalks, hard median strips dividing lanes... continue to be constructed to complete. Vehicles can now travel on this route, except for trucks of 10 tons or more and passenger cars with more than 30 seats which are prohibited. Ms. Le Thi Hien, Ai Tu commune happily shared that previously, people in the southern communes and wards of the province going to the center and the north of the province had to go through National Highway 1A with Quang Tri BOT Toll Station, which increased costs and may have to go further. When the extended Hung Vuong road was completed, people were very excited, especially people at both ends of the route such as Ai Tu commune, Trieu Phong commune in the south; Dong Ha ward, Nam Dong Ha in the north, had more options to travel, especially without paying a fee.

Vice Chairman of Ai Tu Commune People's Committee Nguyen Duc Long said that the completion of the Hung Vuong extended road will greatly facilitate people and vehicles traveling in the suburbs to the southern center of Quang Tri province. The completion of this route will also facilitate the locality to promote economic and social development.

The project of the road connecting the new An Mo bridge, Ai Tu commune to the General Secretary Le Duan Memorial Site, Trieu Phong commune (project), has also basically completed the main construction items, after a long period of sluggish implementation. The project is nearly 6 km long, approved in 2017, expected to be completed in 2021 but can only be completed by December 2025. The reason is that the project is facing difficulties in site clearance, especially about 200m of the road leading to the new An Mo bridge on the Ai Tu commune side.

According to records on December 2, the contractor mobilized a lot of manpower and equipment to construct the asphalt pavement, urgently completing the final stages to complete the road. People living in this area are also happy and hopeful when seeing the road after many years of sluggish construction, now taking shape.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, Ai Tu commune, said that people living near the road leading to the new An Mo bridge hope that this road will be completed soon and put into use so that travel will be more convenient and safer, creating favorable conditions for trade and commerce. The completed road will also contribute to changing the appearance of the countryside to be more spacious and clean.

The project of connecting the new An Mo bridge to the General Secretary Le Duan Memorial Site plays an important role in connecting the communes to the East and West of this bridge. Every day, thousands of vehicles travel through this route and the new An Mo bridge. Accordingly, people in the communes to the East of the new An Mo bridge travel through this route and bridge to go to Ai Tu market, Ai Tu Industrial Park, National Highway 1A and vice versa.

Deputy Director of the Quang Tri Province Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor of the new An Mo Bridge connecting road project to the General Secretary Le Duan Memorial Site) Vo Phong Luan said that the unit has asked the contractor to focus on human resources and means to speed up the progress, complete the final stages, ensure the quality and safety of the project and complete the handover in December 2025. According to Mr. Vo Phong Luan, the Hung Vuong extended road project is also rushing to complete the final items to complete this December.
