On January 14th, observations along central roads such as Le Nin Boulevard and the 72m road (Vinh Phu ward, Nghe An province) showed that many Tet flower stalls had begun displaying kumquats and Dien pomelos in various shapes, sizes, and prices.

Mr. Le Van Cong (31 years old, residing in Hung Nguyen Nam commune, Nghe An province - owner of a Tet flower stall on the 72m road) said that since January 10th, he has imported 500 kumquat bonsai pots to serve the market. He expects that in the next few days, two trucks carrying about 13 tons of Ky Son peach blossoms will also be brought in for Tet sales.

“This year's kumquats are beautiful, plump, and round, with green leaves. However, due to the impact of storms and heavy rain, the prices are higher than last year. The bonsai kumquat trees have beautiful shapes and were chosen by customers very early on. The selling price ranges from 200,000 to 450,000 VND,” Mr. Cong shared.

While choosing a kumquat tree to decorate her desk, Ms. Nguyen Kim Anh (27 years old, residing in Vinh Hung ward, Nghe An province) shared: "Buying early not only makes it easier to choose a beautiful tree, but the price is also 'softer' compared to the time closer to Tet , and it also creates a spring atmosphere, helping to make work more efficient."

Along Lenin Avenue, giant kumquat trees and pomelo trees laden with fruit are also being sold. These are high-value ornamental plants, mainly for government agencies, businesses, or families with spacious homes.

Mr. Tran Bao Ngoc (31 years old, residing in Thanh Vinh ward - owner of a bonsai shop on Le Nin Boulevard) said that this year he imported about 100 Dien pomelo and kumquat trees to sell for Tet. Since the 9th lunar month, he has been going to nurseries in the North to select trees. He only chooses a few beautiful trees from each nursery, even if it means accepting a higher price.

"Due to the impact of storms and heavy rain, there are fewer beautiful trees this year, and the prices have increased accordingly. Depending on the shape, form, and number of fruits, Dien pomelos and kumquats have different selling prices. Customers usually prioritize trees with flowers, many new shoots, and abundant fruit," Mr. Ngoc said.

All the Diễn pomelo trees have their prices listed.

A giant kumquat tree in a pot is being sold for 28 million VND.

At nurseries and flower and ornamental plant shops, bonsai kumquat trees have also been imported to serve the Tet market.

According to gardeners, besides peach blossoms and kumquats, Dien pomelos are a popular ornamental plant during Tet (Lunar New Year).
