National Assembly 'finalizes' application of textbooks nationwide from 2026-2027 school year

The Government was assigned by the National Assembly to focus on developing and ensuring the provision of a unified set of textbooks nationwide for use from the 2026-2027 school year.

The above content is mentioned in the Resolution on the Socio -Economic Development Plan for 2026 approved by the National Assembly on the morning of November 13.

The National Assembly Resolution sets out the requirements for developing high-quality human resources; promoting science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. Continue to effectively implement the solutions stated in Resolution No. 71 of the Politburo , the National Assembly Resolution and the Government's Action Program on breakthroughs in education and training development.

Along with creating a clear change in the quality of education and training at all levels, the National Assembly requested the Government to review and complete the General Education Program, focusing on building and ensuring the provision of a unified set of textbooks nationwide for use from the 2026-2027 school year.

The Government is also tasked with developing and effectively implementing the National Target Program on Modernization and Improving the Quality of Education and Training for the 2025-2035 period.

The National Assembly also resolved to improve foreign language skills for learners, making English the second language in schools. Training, equipping basic knowledge of culture and arts and increasing physical activities, sports, and improving physical fitness for students.

At the university level, the National Assembly requires modernization, breakthrough mechanisms and policies, and investment in developing national universities and key universities on par with advanced countries.

In addition, universities must develop high-quality human resource training programs according to international standards, especially in key fields of science and technology, smart management, basic science, and priority and emerging fields.

In the field of vocational education, the National Assembly set out requirements to improve quality, promote training and retraining, and foster and improve qualifications and vocational skills for workers in key economic regions.
