The National Assembly Standing Committee has just issued a resolution on the expected number, structure and composition of deputies for the 16th National Assembly.

Accordingly, the total number of delegates to the 16th National Assembly is expected to be 500. Of which, the number of delegates in central agencies is 217 (43.4%), the number of National Assembly delegates in localities is 283 (56.6%).

The Resolution stipulates the expected number of delegates in central agencies to be allocated to agencies, organizations and units. Specifically, Party agencies include 10 delegates; the Presidential agency 3 delegates; National Assembly agencies (full-time National Assembly deputies in the central government) 145 delegates; the Government and Government agencies include 15 delegates.

Ministry of National Defense (including ministers, ministerial agencies, military regions and military branches): 13 delegates; Ministry of Public Security (including ministers) has 3 delegates. Supreme People's Court has 1 delegate; Supreme People's Procuracy has 1 delegate; State Audit Office has 1 delegate; Vietnam Fatherland Front has 25 delegates.

Also according to the resolution, the expected number of National Assembly deputies in localities is 283 deputies. The number of National Assembly deputies in localities is allocated based on the orientation and guidance structure.

Of which, the orientation structure is 179 delegates - the framework structure for provinces and cities to use as a basis to introduce candidates. Including key leaders in provinces and cities who are also Heads of National Assembly delegations...

The guiding structure is introduced by localities with 104 delegates. This is a flexible structure for provinces and cities to use as a basis to introduce candidates, including representatives from the fields of science - technology, finance, education, health, culture - arts, etc.

The Resolution also stipulates the combined structure; a candidate for National Assembly deputy may have more than one combined structure.

Specifically, the delegates are about 80 - 90 members of the Party Central Committee, including 12 - 14 members of the Politburo and members of the Secretariat.

Non-Party delegates: 25 - 50 delegates; young delegates (under 40 years old): about 50 delegates (10%); re-elected delegates: about 160 delegates (32%)...
