The announcement came a day after Wan Noor was approved as speaker of Thailand's House of Representatives, a role that would see him call a joint meeting of the country's bicameral legislature to vote for the next prime minister .

The Forward Party won the election and the Pheu Thai Party defeated conservative rivals in a vote in May, winning 151 and 141 seats respectively in the 500-member House of Representatives.
Together with six other parties, they are expected to propose the leader of the Thai People's Party, US-educated Pita Limjaroenrat, as the next prime minister to replace incumbent Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
However, with 312 votes, the coalition falls short of the 376 votes Pita needs in the National Assembly, which includes the 250-member Senate of conservatives who were appointed during the military's rule.
