Regulations on livestock density of Phu Tho province

The People's Committee of Phu Tho province has just issued Decision No. 97/2025/QD-UBND regulating livestock density in the province until 2030.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province stipulates that the livestock density in the area by 2030 shall not exceed 1.8 livestock units per hectare of agricultural land. The regulation will take effect from November 22, 2025.

In special cases, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province will base on the socio-economic development strategy; planning, local land use plans; livestock conditions, livestock technology and ecological environment to adjust the regulations on livestock density to suit production practices at each specific stage.

To implement the regulations, the People's Committee of Phu Tho province assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Phu Tho province to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to disseminate, guide, monitor and inspect the implementation in localities. Advise the People's Committee of Phu Tho province to direct the development of livestock farming to ensure the prescribed density and in accordance with the planning and livestock development plan of the province. At the same time, guide the implementation of regulations on land, environment and water resources for organizations and individuals engaged in livestock farming activities.

The People's Committees of communes and wards shall disseminate and propagate this regulation to organizations and individuals engaged in livestock farming activities in the area under their management; coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and relevant units to direct, orient and organize the implementation of livestock development in accordance with the planning, maximize the potential and advantages of the locality, ensure compliance with legal regulations and livestock density as prescribed.

After the merger, Phu Tho province has the second largest pig and poultry herd in the country. Specifically, the total pig herd of Phu Tho province is about 2 million, poultry is 36.4 million, buffalo and cow herd is about 415,000, dairy cow herd is about 18,600...

Phu Tho province has about 134,000 pig-raising households, mainly small-scale households in residential areas. The whole province has about 3,000 small and medium-scale farms.

The proportion of pigs raised on farms accounts for about 43% of the total herd because many businesses participate in investing in large-scale pig farming, applying high technology such as: Dabaco Vietnam Group Joint Stock Company, CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company, CJ Vina Agri Company Limited, Mavin Group Joint Stock Company...

According to statistics from the professional agency of Phu Tho province, up to now, there have been 64 disease-free livestock farms, over 300 farms participating in the periodic disease monitoring program. In addition, there are 39 large-scale concentrated livestock farms that have been granted certificates of eligibility for livestock farming, 110 farms that meet food safety standards, Vietgap...

In the recent African swine fever outbreak, Phu Tho was one of the localities that suffered the most terrible damage, with 122/148 communes and wards having outbreaks.
