(HTV) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, branches and localities to strengthen control and strictly handle violations in seafood exploitation, speed up the progress of overcoming existing problems to soon remove the IUU "yellow card", protect national prestige and maintain the seafood export market.

According to the report, by November 21, ministries, branches and localities had completed 85/99 assigned tasks. The country currently has 79,295 fishing vessels registered and updated on the Vnfishbase system, reaching 100%. In Ho Chi Minh City, 18/19 tasks have been completed, however, there are still 224 vessels that do not meet the conditions and must temporarily stop operations.

At the same time, it is necessary to develop a policy to change occupations and create sustainable livelihoods for fishermen.
