On the afternoon of November 25 in Ho Chi Minh City, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the 23rd online meeting of the National Steering Committee on Combating IUU Fishing, to evaluate the implementation results and promote solutions to overcome shortcomings in the management and control of fishing vessels.

According to the report, by November 21, ministries, branches and localities had completed 85/99 assigned tasks. The country currently has 79,295 fishing vessels registered and updated on the Vnfishbase system, reaching 100%. In Ho Chi Minh City, 18/19 tasks have been completed, however, there are still 224 vessels that do not meet the conditions and must temporarily stop operations.

At the same time, it is necessary to develop a policy to change occupations and create sustainable livelihoods for fishermen.
