Determined to remove all remaining walkways by 2026

QNgTV- In less than 2 years, Quang Ngai province has closed more than 2/3 of the self-opened railway crossings, thereby contributing to reducing railway accidents and ensuring safety for North-South trains.

With high determination and drastic participation, Quang Ngai province has become a bright spot in eliminating self-opened paths across railways.

Before 2024, Quang Ngai province had nearly 90 self-opened railway crossings, most of which posed potential traffic accidents, causing railway traffic insecurity. Many accidents occurred, seriously affecting train operations.

With drastic and effective measures, in 2024 and 2025, Quang Ngai is one of the localities that the Traffic Police Department and the Railway Department have assessed as a bright spot in eliminating self-opened railway crossings. Specifically, in 2024, the province eliminated 25 self-opened crossings and in 2025, eliminated 27 crossings. Thereby, the number of self-opened crossings has been sharply reduced, contributing to minimizing traffic accidents related to railways. With continuous efforts, up to now, Quang Ngai province has only 26 self-opened crossings. Of these, 10 self-opened crossings have been committed by localities to coordinate with the Traffic Police Department and the Railway Department to close/eliminate them in 2025.

According to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province, the locality will focus on handling the remaining self-opened walkways with the determination to eliminate 100% of self-opened walkways by 2026 and prevent people from opening new walkways. This ensures that the North-South railway line through the province will no longer have to worry about accidents, especially at the locations of self-opened walkways.
