Quynh Son Village (Bac Son Commune, Lang Son Province) has officially been added to the world tourism map after being honored by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as the "Best Tourist Village of 2025". During the upcoming Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, this village, steeped in the unique culture of the Tay people, will become a focal point for tourists thanks to its combination of ancient architectural heritage and authentic local cultural experiences.
Located approximately 160km from Hanoi, the Quynh Son community tourism village is nestled in the fertile Bac Son valley. From the beginning of the twelfth lunar month, the atmosphere of Tet preparations is bustling throughout the stilt houses. For local people like the Duong Cong Chai family, this year is a special spring, as the international award brings pride and opportunities for sustainable economic development.

The unique stilt house heritage and Tay cultural space.
The most impressive feature of Quynh Son is its system of nearly 450 wooden stilt houses, some almost a century old. These houses all have traditional yin-yang tiled roofs and mostly face south, creating a unified architectural complex that harmonizes with the natural landscape of the Viet Bac mountains. This is the key factor that helped the village achieve recognition from UN Tourism.

Visiting Quynh Son during Tet (Lunar New Year), tourists not only admire the vibrant peach blossoms along the roadside but also immerse themselves in the daily life of the Tay people. Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, shared his surprise at the peaceful scenery and the hospitality of the locals. At homestays, tourists can join the hosts in milling rice, pounding rice, and preparing traditional Tet dishes themselves.

The flavors of Tet in the highlands and unforgettable experiences.
The Tet (Lunar New Year) cuisine in Quynh Son is an irresistible attraction, featuring black sticky rice cakes, sausages, and ginger-wrapped pork rolls. Duong Cong Co, the owner of a local homestay, said that accommodations regularly organize for tourists to experience the ancestral worship meal and traditional house-blessing rituals, including giving lucky money at the beginning of the year, to showcase the beauty of Tay culture.
One unmissable activity is conquering Na Lay peak, at an altitude of over 700m. From here, visitors can gaze out at the panoramic view of the misty Bac Son valley in the early morning, fully experiencing the harmony between the earth and sky, and the sounds of the zither and folk songs echoing from the villages.

In addition to traditional activities, modern services such as camping and folk dancing are also being offered to diversify the experience for tourists, especially young people and international visitors, whose numbers are rapidly increasing.

Sustainable development strategy within UNESCO
Located within the UNESCO Lang Son Global Geopark, Quynh Son is being developed as the province's tourism "locomotive." According to Mr. Trinh Minh Tuan, Chairman of the Bac Son Commune People's Committee, the government is focusing on investing in infrastructure while implementing architectural management regulations to preserve the traditional stilt houses intact.

The revival of faded festivals and the integration of tourism with green agriculture are strategic steps to retain visitors. The Tay community here is increasingly aware that the customs and traditions preserved through generations are the most sustainable foundation for Quynh Son village to remain an attractive destination on the global tourism map.
